    No, the green is misleading. It's a long 'mountain'-range that runs down the middle of northern England; often referred to as the 'spine of England'. It's not very high, only 800m at it's highest point, but some of it is very bleak and wild. Some good walking to be had.

    Of course, the mountains in the Lakes are higher and better

    I think that was the hairy Scots doing actually. There is a Roman road runs across the top of the mountains just near my house, highest point 828m. Currently covered in snow. Obviously not used as a road now. Just a big footpath.

    Dan, I surely need to visit that place too. I'm planning a trip to Ireland and Scotland within a few years, but that Lakeside stuff sounds good too.
