    In general, this review pertains to the video. Where differences exist, I will highlight them

    Sound

    Quality on the video is noticeably clearer and higher than the audio bootleg, whether external speakers or Sennheisers are used.
    Video is 4.5 star
    Audio is 3 start max, maybe even 2.5 for me. Too much interference to be an enjoyable listen. Which is a shame, as...

    Performance
    Top notch. Last night of the 1st American leg and the boys are having fun. I like the Elevation tour and this is a good record of it.

    Highlights for me included:-

    Wild Honey (premiere performance and Danny lanois on stage too) - I enjoyed this
    The entire encore. VERY strong. Particularly WOWY which for me reached Lovetown/ZooTV levels of greatness, a very empassioned performance. Speech before One was good (similar to the Vertigo Tour one but more heartfelt and spontaneous). He used the "i did" line about coming to play Jesus, which I love, too.
    The Fly - as discussed in another topic, this is great.

    But the whole thing was good. No weak points for me.

    Video

    Download this video from Gerard, now. A great souvenir of the tour, this is fun to watch on computer monitor or on the little fella.
    Dark at times, but this is due to the lighting.
    It's not a pro-shot, but that makes it more intimate in many ways.
    The Fly is mad-ass.

    Overall
    A recommended bootleg video. Personally I'd give the audio a miss, but the video is top-notch and the performance itself is in my Top 10 Elevation easily and pushing the Top 5 to be honest. Loved it.

    Thanks for the effort involved with this Gerard. If necessary I'd suggest a delay in moving on until all the members havce given their review. I think this deserves that.

    Sound
    Great choice, Gerard. The sound quality here is amazing. You can tell it's audience, but there were only a few moments were you can pick up individual voices. (Like the guy who thinks he's the first person in the arena to identify that the band is about to play "Mysterious Ways." Gotta love that guy.)

    Video
    Sure, it's audience shot, and in my opinion those aren't ever as good as pro-shot, but this comes pretty damn close. I like that the tapers give you a good sense of the wide perspectives, not just the medium shots of the boys. I personally love it when they pull way out and we can see the crowd bouncing, even on the outsides of the heart stage. Not sure what happened when the video all of the sudden crapped out for "Walk On"....Looks like someone switched to VHS or something. Fortunately, it's multicam, so we see a majority of shots from that other side during "Walk On."

    Random Thoughts

    Watching the opening gave me chills. It gives an accurate representation of what it was like being at one of these indoor Elevation shows. I'll never forget the show that I was at, and that feeling when the band took the stage with the house lights on. I remember seeing Edge first, and thinking "oh my god, is that....Edge!?" Seeing them with the house lights on somehow made them seem more human, and more accessible. The Boston DVD did a terrible job at emphasizing this, and Slane didn't even have the chance. By the time the band gets to the bridge, you've completely forgotten that they've left the house lights on, so it's a shock and a nice effect when the lights drop completely out and the spotlights kick in. If you weren't fortunate enough to see the band on the Elevation tour, the opening 2 minutes of this bootleg give a really good insight as to what it was like.

    I love the audible yells you can hear when Bono leaves the main stage for the first time during "Beautiful Day." When he makes that extra connection just by getting closer to the fans on the sides, well....you and I would scream too.

    Seems a little weird to hear "Kite" dedicated to someone other than Bob Hewson.

    "New York" was pretty enjoyable. I blame Hamish Hamilton for ruining the song for me. On that Boston DVD, I find the black and white version pretty much unwatchable. Besides, people in Boston hate the city of New York, so you knew they weren't ever going really get into that song. East Rutherford, on the other hand, considers itself part of New York, so it came off a lot better.

    The "broken string & guitar change" in Sunday Bloody Sunday was classic. Way to pull it off and get a little laugh, Bono.

    Low point of the show for me was "Wild Honey" and "Ground Beneath Her Feet." No offense to Mr. Lanois, but I think bringing him up for these songs slammed the brakes on the show's momentum. (For those that couldn't watch the bootleg this week, you missed out on Bono constantly crouching down to read the lyric sheet for "Wild Honey" as well as the awkward decision not to bring Daniel Lanois out to the tip of the heart (B stage) with Bono & Edge, but to keep him on the main stage. The whole thing just felt awkward, and you could tell that the audience lost interest by the first verse of "Ground Beneath Her Feet." It was as if half the arena got up to take a piss....

    Am I the only one that think Bono's pants look ridiculous? I understand that he's put on weight and all since the days of the mullet, but it looks like he's wearing Fat Albert's pants.

    Say what you will about Bono's political speeches, but this was one of the better, more poignant intros to "One" I've heard/seen in a long time.

    Note: I would have posted earlier but the modem keeps cutting out for some strange reason. This review comes from the excellent DVD.

    Being a three cam mix, you get a great perspective and not just focusing on Bono, which is good. You get an equal view of all four members (and even some great shots of Larry, which is a rarity in itself. What I was disappointed with was two of the songs - The Ground Beneath Her Feet and Wild Honey both bored me to tears, and as always I skipped the piss-poor effort that is One.


    Sound

    It's about average sound - like some of the other Elevation shows, a 3 or 3.5 star rating in my book - but not so bad you can't listen. There's no obvious dips in quality or loss in quality, it's all held up quite well (like some recent shows I've listened to) and the audience is prominent. You can hear all the instruments and vocals clearly enough.



    Performance

    Yet another great Elevation Tour show. Some of the highlights that stood out for me:

    - The speech seemed to be a bit more passionate than the East Rutherford Vertigo show.
    - The ending of The Fly when you hear the extra extended ending - that seriously rocked.
    - Very, very good stability in the video and the camera angles get really close to the band.
    - Check out Bono reading the lyrics off the lyric sheet for Wild Honey - classic moment.

    Sound

    Audio quality of the video was absolutely excellent. A clear 4-4.5 star recording recorded by someone who knew what he was doing. How awesome was Larry's drum response when turned up loud? Great

    Performance

    Excellent solid all rounder. The boys didn't break any boundaries with this gig but they were relaxed and clearly enjoying themselves as could be seen on the video.

    Highlights for me included:-

    -Wild Honey. Loved it, nice upbeat and cheery with Bono reading the lyrics from the floor. Excellent
    -In My Life into Stuck In A Moment was nice.
    -A kick ass crowd I felt. Wouldn't have looked out of place had this show been in Europe. They loved it.
    -WOWY was WOW. Hearing Bono belt out 'Shine Like Stars' whilst the crowd loudly sang the 'woh oh o ohs' was a real real goosebump moment. Amazing
    -Everything else was top top notch, great set overall. 8.5/10

    Video

    Amazing job by the 2 tapers and greatly mixed by mr achtungpop. Elevation aside, the quality here on both cams is excellent. True, it may be no pro-shot but I think that works in it's favor. It reminds me of seeing U23D in ways (obviously not because of the quality) but because it lets you see the show from a whole different perspective and I loved that. The sense and feeling on intimacy that this video brings is a rarity.

    The video can get a little dark at time but thats more the fault of the Elevation setup. Great to see the crowd reaction to Streets and how awesome was it when they kicked into the Achtung Baby tracks and bought the glorious color with them (like R&H)

    10/10 tapers, 9/10 video

    Summary

    Excellent show, excellent audio, excellent video, great crowd. Loved it loved it loved it. It was also a nice change from the norm to have a visual experience here on the Round Table rather than more audio. It was the breath of fresh air that I needed and whenever the future show selections allow, I will be sure to add the video. . .

    9/10 overall.
