Perhaps JT is their best and most known album but AB is just behind

....I guess everybody will agree on this...

Considering it was voted one of the best albums of all time by Rolling Stone mag, so would I! I think JT and AB are 2 of the best albums ever released, and that's not just because I'm a U2 nut lol, they're just brilliant.

An album I'd point my way to, no idea if anyone's ever heard of it though, is "Amazing Things" by Runrig - released around the same time as Achtung Baby, early '90s I mean, really worth a listen. Powerful, evocative, inspirational...

They are indeed. As Help!, Thriller or Brothers In Arms, everyone has to accept that they're masterpieces, even though they don't have to like the band

Here here. Luckily, we love the band lol!

It's their second most lauded/well known album after JT.
So no, not all that suprising.

My dad reseved a book not soo long ago, its the liste, by year, of 1000 album to have and listen.

    U2 has 4 reprensentents,

    War
    Achtung
    Joshua Three
    and;
All That you can't leave Behind

I was surprise to see Achtung baby in the list, its not a weel know U2 album like JT put still, they say its their all-time best.

    And I agree

Do you think these albums deserve to be in this list ?)

i think they are right.. these are good albums i only think that War must be changed to The Unforgettable Fire... .....or both in!
    than its ok
  7. War cracked the big-time in America, The Joshua Tree got them known right across the world, Achtung Baby had One which apparently is a great song so everyone knows it (but most don't know of the meaning, especially at weddings!) and All That You Can't Leave Behind had Beautiful Day and that helped them reapply for the job of biggest band in the world after Pop.

Where would you fit Zooropa in all this?

I wouldn't. Those albums only made it into the book because they're part of the 'mainstream U2'.

What songs are well known from Achtung Baby? One, Mysterious Ways, The Fly, Zoo Station, Even Better Than The Real Thing, Until The End of The World...

What songs are well known from Zooropa?

I don't doubt Zooropa nor Achtung Baby are necessarily bad albums. But both have some bad smells.

Where are the "bad smells" of which you speak? I think Achtung Baby's only weakness is that it's 12 greatest hits in their own right rather than an album that flows, BUT that said I love it. And Zooropa doesn't have any necessary well-known/standout tracks but I don't there's anything bad in it. Each to their own though, I say

    What bad smells on Achtung?

I'll get flamed for this...but it has to be One. And even live it's still poor. The rest of Achtung Baby is sheer brilliance but that song drops it down a peg.
