  1. Since when did the FT start reviewing gigs
  2. The first show is on u2 torrents so there's a good chance that one will be available on here eventually. Can't imagine the taper would be against it getting shared on here.

It fits lyrically. Also, its about time London got the song. It has never been played in London, despite having been in on-off setlists for 20 years.

Miss Sarajevo is THE song that has been performed the most yet still hasn't had a live performance in Ireland - not played once at any of the 18 U2 gigs in Ireland since 1995.
I was very, very happy to hear Miss Sarajevo again. Remember how many years we had to wait to hear it live (at least in Europe), unless you were lucky enough to be at Modena ?

The revelation of 360 when Bono started singing the operatic parts was so powerful and a real vocal achievement when I remember his voice in the Vertigo tour as not being as good. It was always rare to see it in Europe and I had the privilege of seeing it in Torino in August 2010 for their 'comeback' gig with a crazy Italian audience and at Moncton in Canada.

Ok, so for this version we got the big man Pavarotti back to sing, and he is most welcome...

...but it isn't just the music, it is a song which for me encompasses so much of what U2 are, what they mean, what they stand for and believe in and what they are all about. The message brought up to date for today's troubles and tragic impact of the war in Syria, stretching back to moving memories of the Zooropa live satellite link-ups to Sarajevo, their friends, indeed fellow 'Passengers' in music & charity, their activism, the ONE campaign, the experimental album MS came from. their peak in the creative 90's.

The imagery of the refugee camp in Jordan was stunning, the message was there, some people will get it, some won't, some good will come of it, hearts and minds will be moved, Miss Sarajevo is still carrying a powerful lesson in 2017.

    It is precious.

Unlike a very select few on here, I love reading opinions that are completely different than mine. It's a reminder of how different our tastes and experiences can be from a single song, album or concert. Nice post.

  5. From the Independent:

"I've seen U2 live many times and I've never seen them give so much pleasure to so many people. There were tears. Mine. And they're a band that is indefatigably on the side of the angels, as evidenced by dedicating "Ultraviolet" to murdered Labour MP Jo Cox and allowing Noel Gallagher to end their blistering set with a poignant and stirring "Don't Look Back in Anger", dedicated to Manchester.

    A triumphant experience."

  6. Spot on from the independent. I welled up during Pride for an absent friend . Only this band can do this to me

Another thread needs to start... How many times do you feel yourself welling up or actually shedding a tear at a U2 gig ?

Thank you. we are all friends with a common bond and different view points.

I need to 'fess up, I don't really like Beautiful Day or The Miracle of Joey Ramone, at one stage got bored with Bullet (several tours ago) and Trip Through Your WIres is my least fav. of JT but still great this tour but I love Elevation !

Once or twice this weekend, I'll admit. There was a guy near to Remy and myself with tears streaming down his face during With Or without You.
  10. I would say 90% of the rehearsal show on Friday.
  11. I just read your review...respect, a great descriptive read, amazing, privileged, lucky !

I had a few moments on both nights, always on Streets when the boys moved up to the big screen and it when red, then the road movie thought the Mojave started I was blown away (I had stayed away from all spoilers for 2 months !)

The Jo Cox tribute,Miss Sarajevo. Red Hill mining Town, One Tree Hill first time Greg Carroll tribute, One...oh, I could go on and on !!!
