Tour: Joshua Tree Tour 2017
Songs played: 23
Audio recordings: 4
Videos: 1
  1. Still not sure how to review the 2nd Amsterdam show. For me it was almost a 10/10 show. Among the very best I've ever attended. The only minor defect, I thought, was that I Will Follow missed that "From the back, to the front" introduction

But perhaps the best thing was to have attended both shows. They really seem to be a pair (and with that B******* pre-show on Friday it was pretty ultimate )

I preferred the I+E shows for the reason of new material. I feel the band needs a challenge and this tour is maybe not challenging enough for them (no new songs to win the crowd over). Guess choice of venue also plays a role...Ziggo Dome is a much better place. But for this kind of show, a celebration of an album, the two shows were perfect. And yes, Friday was epic.
  3. My very subjective point of view is also that of all the U2 albums, I like Joshua Tree the best. Probably also because it came out when I was still 16 (yes, you may all do the math ) and, as I may believe some (neuro) psychological findings, that is around that time when the brain is most receptive of musical and emotional imprints - or something like that; I'm not a psychologist or neuro-nerd

Anyway, to me The Joshua Tree is like home. I really like SOI (and the prospects of SOE are also pretty good...from what I've heard...so far), but The Joshua Tree is still no.1 for me. And with those new Corbijn visuals the whole concert was really an amazing experience. And, too, I really went nuts just like way back in 1987. Only then I would probably went nuts if U2 were too play the Chinese take away menu - Now I went completely nuts at my 30th U2 show... (or is it 31 now? #blackout )

Fair enough I agree the visuals are AMAZING, and one of the best 'backdrops' they ever had. I'm always inspired by how much thought goes in their shows. It's so smart en tasteful yet subtle...guess everything combined with the music and the message makes it so special for me.

  5. I'm near the plain. Still not leaving. I hear the engins. Some say they have a welcome in Brussels at 16.30. They are leaving later this afternoon probably. So no rehearsels than. I'm leaving too.
  6. Thanks for the update

So U2 is still in Holland... what A Celebration

  7. I went to the 1st night, and best songs for me were; Bad, Red Hill Mining town (though Bono missed 1 verse), Exit (really powerful), Mothers, Beautiful Day with the balloons was magic, Vertigo (only due to the extended finish), Miss Sarajevo (actually works well), Ultraviolet. That´s it; now give us a new album or just play POP forever!!! ahahahah
  8. Has the plane left now ?
  9. In my opinion you can't ask for more than this when you're a U2 fan. Amazing buzz all over the weekend and the performance of an amazing album. Before the announcement of this tour I never thought of hearing Red Hill Mining Town, Exit, ASOH and One Three Hill live. So setlist whise this is for U2 standards pretty amazing. This together with amazing visuals makes me smile. New songs will come later and we just need to be patient. My feeling is that they are not going to quit on a short term and we may enjoy more special nights in Amsterdam or anywhere else in the future.
  10. They are ready to take off.
