  1. You say "here's the proof" and post 1 song, but when somebody pinpoints you 2 songs from another tour you say it's not valid? Hehe


    The whole of 360 was consistently great, there were very minor blemishes during a few (very few) shows, but his delivery was mostly great all throughout - just as he turned 50, moreover. On the other hand, the I&E tour saw his range diminishing and he started to lose track of the timing and cues in some tracks. He soon went breathless when he moved around the stage (even if he moved less than on the 360, where he jumped, ran and walked around the stage and catwalk more often) and that didn't help him with the timings either.

    You're perfectly entitled to think that Lovetown, Innocence&Experience, Popmart or 11 O'Clock Tick Tock Tour were his best vocal deliveries No heat. But as a singer and a musician myself I know where to look at, and I think it's pretty fair to say that in 2009-2011 he was at his new best since 1994. I tremendously enjoyed the I&E shows I went to, and Bono was "fine", but surely not better than in the 360 Tour.

    If you're referring to the Zane Lowe interview, I think you misinterpreted what he was saying. I think he was saying that he didn't listen to the album in preparation for the tour because he knows how painful it would be to hear his voice then compared to now. He followed that statement up by saying the band sound great, and at this point in the tour he thinks he's back where he needs to be.

    But yeah, I think he was saying that he can't listen to it because it's painful to realize how much of his voice is gone.

    Another thing that I don't think some here are taking into consideration is that Bono will always sound better these days singing newer songs, because he's written them with his current voice. Trying to sing old songs with an older voice will never be a fair comparison, because they weren't written with an aged voice in mind. It's no secret that Bono doesn't have the power to his voice that he once had, but when he writes for the voice he has now, it sounds fine. The Little Things sounds fine.

    Still, definitely nowhere near where it once was, but you get the point.

    There was one interview from probably the IE tour i was referring to, but I may have misinterpreted the part about him not being able to listen to his voice.

    Anyway, if you should ask me what are in my opinion his best vocals tours I'd only say LoveTown and ZooTV...
    I+E Tour was only a little improvement.
  5. I'd say late-Vertigo shows had a notch over the I&E shows, but that's just me.
  6. Not "just you". They're similar in many regards, definitely up there with his post- Zoo best (but below 360). That's why I always refer to the 1995-2005 abyss, intentionally excluding 2006.
  7. IMO the 360 tour was his best voice he ever had!
  8. 2009 wasn't good but 2011 was amazing, imo.

    I'll agree. He's also looking pudgier and less in shape these days. We can factor that in. And don't forget a back surgery and multiple fracture bike injury in between. Little things like this one wouldn't think to have an effect, but proper breathing is a big part of vocals.

    I think he is fine. He's a bit out of shape, and he's at the age where the best of them begin losing range... he needs to start jogging with Adam and it'll make a big difference.

    I agree, he's not young but he's can do things to improve and prolong his voice
