  5. Yeah I thought the only available version is the Kygo version. Guess I missed the boat with the other beach clip but only a few weeks left til we get the official release so I can live with that.

Paul McCartney was around 70 when "New" came out, and I think Ryan "Overrated as hell" Teddy Bear was producing some of it, the album sounded like he was dabbling in younger sounds, not pandering to young people like Prince's "Hitnrun Phase One." Prince's "Hitnrun Phase Two" was his last album, and much better, as it was pretty much old school Prince...my point? U2 don't have to pander to young people, they just need to be U2.
    "Every Breaking Wave" is the perfect example, the album version was a bit too much pandering to the younger generations, and the acoustic version had the emotion and passion I expect from U2. Now, oddly, I don't like acoustic versions as much, but this was an exception. I always wanted them to stretch their musical muscles on "Staring At The Sun," but they gave up and took the easy way out, which I do every day of my life. I just hold U2 to crazy, impossible standards. That is a weakness of mine, they are human!

    Should they go looking for hits and relevance? Well, it is really up to them. They have done more than just about any band other than the Beatles and Rolling Stones. And with obvious bias, I like U2 better than the Beatles and Stones combined. McCartney's "New" is not some landmark album, but for somebody around 70, it sure is special to me. But McCartney has tons of albums that missed the mark for what he was capable of, but he is obviously one of the best songwriters ever. Will U2 be able to do anything at 70? Doubt it really matters at this point.

    U2 also seem to be in this endless cycle of tour, album, tour, album, tour. They seem to not be able to turn on the songwriting switch as in the past. Prince never stopped writing, he was simply mad, cranking out 300-1000 songs each year, with obvious mixed results. I would love for Edge and Bono to just hang out, and try to write 10-20 a year every year for the next ten years, and if an album or two comes from it, great, if not, no issues. Rambling complete!

    Jep, because of seeing him in Dublin opening up, I started listening more to Oasis and I am now a fan of NGHFB.

    I don't think they'll do that. Live is where they live.

    The next tour will be a challenge. They downsized after 360 - they had to. They resized, touring their best, or certainly most classic, album - and with not so many dates, especially in Europe. Next time around, they'll need a hit to fill in stadiums again. Although probably I&E v.2 will be another arena tour, so no concerns there yet. (U2 will fill arenas as long as Bono sings.)
  11. I have no ins with the band, but I met someone on the tour who talks to the boys and was told it's stadiums all the way for SoE and Live Nation. Simply makes more money. Hope it's not true. I have loved smaller venues. But just got to be grateful for any new music.. however they tour
