1. Might make for a new topic altogether, but it would be interesting to have a poll/debate over which producer(s) have made the biggest impact on U2, or just which producer(s) we favor more based on the band's output.

    Lillywhite/Eno & Lanois/Flood/Iovine/Howie B./Danger Mouse/Tedder/Epstein???

    ...Kygo?

    Lillywhite
    Eno & Lanois
    Flood
    The Rest...
  3. Lillywhite first of all.he woke up U2
    Eno made U2'grow up
Flood i think he's a mastermind.most of all he worked "around" their sound and surely left his footprint
Don't forget the brief apperiance of HowieB
  4. They should never use any one but the 4 of them. maybe Jacknife. IMHO...
  5. I'm not sure if it was only the one song he did with them but William orbits version of Electrical Storm seems better than the other mix. I think they realised that when it was featured on the main disc of the best of with the other having to settle for disc 2.
  6. I have found it hard to come onto this site recently. I really feel like just about every comment about just about any topic has been negative. It's like the band can't please anyone! (I will say it has been great to read about the excitement of the potential SOE news... but I feel that will change when the album drops).

I get EDM isn't everyone's cup of tea. It isn't particularly mine but I have been exposed to it because I listen to a lot of different genres including the mainstream. If you listen to that Kygo mix it is just as much or more U2 than Kygo! Can't you hear that being Edge's guitar? I feel like the breaks between the chorus seemed to be remixed; the music got faster and Bono seemed to be mumbling over and over (though who knows...maybe that were the original lyrics! haha)

Anyway sorry for being negative especially in a post about negativity. I still continue to be in awe of the fact that we are all here because we love this band but even our own opinions of the band differ greatly!
  7. Rick Rubin & Trent Reznor
And we Got U2 playing Like The Prodigy

Listening to the song again I think your spot on that the only part that sounds particularly remixed or particularly kygo is the breaks between the chorus. The rest of it could easily be the work of u2 only which is fine because I think it sounds good. I think the chorus might ending up sounding like Iris in fact it pretty much fits into that song.
  9. Agree with Kris and Dean. I'm sure the Lillywhite mix will be different but I don't think drastically so. At least we in the minority hope not!
  10. , I honestly can't claim to be a fan of Edm in general or David Guetta for that matter but i do like the best thing, I won't dismiss a song instantly because of its genre. Can you see yourself liking the best thing if they long breaks are taken out and the chorus has more of the strumming guitar sound like I mentioned above in Iris or even like the strumming bit you can hear at the end of the song?

I don't dislike it, necessarily... but yes, I would likely enjoy it much more with more Edge and less DJ... The only one pushing buttons should be the guy at the mixing desk. My guess is that it will remain relatively unchanged. For all we know, this could be the Lillywhite version...

I'm a snobby purist though.. not a great of the dance remixes or lengthy extended versions... And hey, I like "Get On Your Boots", so what does that say about me?
