Haha, actually I do! It just seemed that Hawkmoon (I felt at the time) didn't really go anywhere. It was building up to a point it never arrived at... Now, I appreciate that a lot more, and I like longer songs in general more. When I started out I was much younger (probably about 15 when I first listened to R&H) and was only just starting to develop my own taste in music. Nowadays, I desperately wish U2 would have more 6- or 7-minute epics...
yeah... I remember I thought Doors' Light My Fire is long song too
Took me some time to get into PF's Echoes and since that time I love long songs...
But actually never thought Hawkmoon or All I Want Is You are long songs...
  2. A Long Song seems longer when you don't really Like it
  3. yeah and even 20mins song seems short if you really like it
  4. Mercy.great Great Song
    Mostly forgotten
    Bring it on surface again!
  5. I was really sad to see them change this live when it was perfect as that leaked version. I still enjoyed seeing it live but if I'd seen the original I might never have stopped going on about it, bring back that version please.
  6. See, I prefer the live version. There's a few lines in the leaked version I miss (especially 'we're binary code, a one and a zero, you wanted violins, and you got Nero') but on the whole I like the tighter, more-cleaned up live version. I feel like it didn't lose that U2y magic of the original but came in a more efficient packaging. Also, it's just been a song I've turned to during some emotionally-darker times in my life so I guess there's some bias there.

I just prefer the lyrics of the original in general, particularly the chorus and really miss the bit that starts 'I, I can't escape myself' right thorough through til the last 'nothing' then the 'ooh'. That's probably my favourite part of the original and I guess we get the solo in the live version as a sort of substitute which I do like also because well it's an edge solo but just doesn't have the same effect for me. Interesting difference of opinions though and I have to stress I don't hate the live version it's still a good song for me.
  8. The whole October album
