1. My son has seen U2 three times to date. He likes the song a lot. He turned to me and asked 'am i the best thing about you?'. Partly as a joke which upon reflection is actually true.
If this band can appeal to the sensibilities of young children and teenagers then that really is to be commended i think. After all, music is universal and will still speak after we are all long gone, buried and dead. This will continue to speak!

  3. It's as incorrect as "to boy". The only correct way would be "TO A boy" but that's one more syllabe that you can't fit with the chorus' rhythm

  4. Not at all, and it's my fault because I didn't make myself clear enough - you can read negative/critical comments with some actual substance, I was referring to the ones that seem to try too hard to "scream" their opinion to everybody, like it matters more than anybody else's. If I want to read people shitting on U2, without reasoning, I can just go to Twitter.

Does this u2_michaelc has some attention seeking issues? Why does he call me out like that in the post? Any moderators here left?

Great defender of free speech... even better with quoting (reposting) other people opinions.

Several mods are monitorizing the thread and we haven't seen anything worth calling anyone out. You guys are disagreeing but it's healthy discussion as far as I can tell. Just keep it nice, agree to disagree, and move on.
  6. mp3? no?

You're right, but I still say "to boy" could be interpreted as "the best thing that ever happened to the concept of a boy", or "you (meaning women/partners/whoever) are the best thing that ever happened to boys/girls/whoever".

How can "happened a boy" be interpreted?

This song just will give the haters more ammunition sadly.

Frankly I would have preferred The Little Things as a single - it's not poppy and wouldn't have appealed widely to a radio crowd but is the best demonstration that they can still write awesome songs.

Funny... my buddy and I had this conversation last night. About songwriting... This is catchy, yes. And will likely grow on me (as the last few U2 lead tracks have) But lyrically... I think GOYB is more lyrically stimulating.

Doesn't mean it won't be a single. But it wouldn't have been a good first single I don't think.

Don't worry please. I have been guilty here of overbombing people with my tastes in music. The moderators do exist. I think if its excess (like mine was) then they will draw people up with fairness.

I hope you are not bothered by any retorts. You made a valid point. Not everyone will ever agree on an united front about the band. In a way thats the beauty of this.A along as we are not offensive to people then i guess opinions can go astray.
I do see where you are coming from though. Maybe its the initial sense of disappointment people feel. The song deserves many plays doesn't it. Some will change their minds too.
