They kinda have with certain songs, Bono himself spoke about it today in fact that The Best Thing was a song that belonged on radio. Not that I'm criticising the band for doing more commercial numbers although I like the less forced attempts more like beautiful Day and vertigo, not that either of them are considered amongst my favourite u2 songs.
