1. The buildup of the drums from the first "You're the best thing about me" to the second repetition during the chorus itself are just fantastic when they do kick in, though, no? Some of Larry's best drumming in years, I'd say.

  2. Whilst I'm not the target audience for a boy band, nor would I usually be interested in such a thing with a label of that kind, it has to be said that The Monkees were a rather fine boy band (who Bono has often raved about in years gone by). Bono also confesses boy band Take That had some magic going on. Sometimes it's best to ignore labels and pigeonholes of convenience when it comes to music. For me there's only good music and bad music, and you have to hear the song first to make that call I say.
  3. Its a lovely pop song. The leak of the blackout was there to offset the sheer pop-tastic-ness that You're the Best thing is. Have played it loads - it's lodged in my head in a way GOYB or The Miracle never did.

Uplifting Pop is a difficult trick to pull off. The Larry Mullen Jnr. Band have pulled it off [ again ]. Be happy we still have them and they are still trying to be relevant. Separately it was great live on JF and Bullet just slayed.

  4. Could this be the gift for the U2.com subscribers?

That pretty much sums up how I feel too.
