1. Yeah I'm thinking the vocal take was just overall better than this new one. I also liked the line of the world smelling like fresh paint but not too big a deal. I wonder if I'm just associating the new vocal take with the lillywhite mix too much and that is playing into my preference of the old kygo version.

Also hard to believe that I'd take an EDM transition after the chorus than the band's. Still baffles me.

The punchiness could've come from big PA speakers though too.

I don't mind the new lyrics, and the structure isn't different enough for me to let it bother me much.

All in all, I'm glad we have a good sounding version, and I still like this way better than the one U2 released.

I do think Bono's vocal performance was a lot better in the version we heard last year though..
Good point abut the PA...yes it sounds like it might be a new vocal track also (in parts anyway).Anyway I think this is a good release to have and at the end of the day it promotes chatter about U2 so can only be good
  3. So, the full version leaked?
  4. It's available on iTunes in some timezones now I believe...you know what the internet is like !
  5. Okay, so, having figured out a way to listen to this, I *definitely* love the Kygo mix. Not even a question in my mind as to which I like better--Kygo wins hands-down.

That said, I keep listening to this and thinking that if I had the tools to do this, I wish he'd have pushed it a little bit harder, a little bit farther. It's a big track, a good track, but the EDM version of this could have had MASSIVE arpeggiated synths and a better bassline (and maybe a spot better percussion). (And I know it's really corny, but I'm a sucker for a good siren effect in an EDM track, too.) I can hear the version of it that I want in my head, but I know it'll probably never exist.

(Why am I an attorney...? Ugh.)

I think that's why it's still likable for people like me though, in that it's NOT over the top like that.

But I can see why you'd want it that way, it's sort of halfway between U2's version and a true EDM song.

Yeah. I think there would be value/enjoyment potential in having all 3 versions--the original band version (which is great live), the Kygo version, and then the full-on EDM treatment. Different levels for people to enjoy, haha.
