1. Looks like a cool video, but I'm curious about if it'll sound different.
  2. Now I'm confused with all the video shootings they have. Is that for the official video? Did they scrap some of the video they had in Europe?
  3. Why on earth did they film it with the Tribute In Light in the background? Nothing wrong with it but I thought it could come across as insensitive with such a happy song, etc. That was my first thought when I saw the photo.

I guess they're going for a mix between Walk On and ABOY videos. But with a boat added in.
  4. "Presenter"?!

Do you guys not realize that this is the same Bill Flanagan who went galavanting around the world with U2 during the ZooTV tour and wrote At The End of the World?!

Funny that the guy who wrote the U2 bible is now doing this sort of thing.

Interesting, indeed! Still my favorite U2 book by far...might even be one of my favorite books, period. Just finished re-reading it earlier this summer again.

Curious if the album version of Best Thing will have changed yet again by the time SOE drops on Dec. 1, if Edge's hints were correct...
  6. The video could have its own version not present on the album. Original Of The Species immediately comes to mind (I like the video version a lot).
  7. Hmm curious about the video they shot in Amsterdam...

It doesn't even suck as GOYB to hate it. But I don't want to feel apathy or disinterest for a new song about my favorite band.
Bono already sang many times that Ali is "the sweetest thing". Now Bono is saying that Ali "is the best thing". It's not even original.

America loves vanilla. Look at what they listen to? I'd rather have fine vanilla if I'm gonna be forced to eat it.

I love NLOTH, too - GOYB and all!

I can only hope this further diminishes U2's wish to be "relevant" ... reading that interview with the Edge and him speaking to making song decisions in order to sound "contemporary" translates to me as "let's forget our instincts as a band of 40 years, and instead make decisions on what sounds contemporary."

Ignoring instincts and going for what is "contemporary" is how we get forgettable songs like this.

In this age of short attention spans 2 weeks is an eternity for the shelf life of most songs.
