  1. Glastonbury was never released, it doesn't make sense to criticize them for using it in an "official" song. Like it didn't matter when it was used in the bridge for Volcano.

    The only thing that really happened is that they took a bridge from a previous song to turn it into a whole new song, on two albums that are supposed to be related.

    I fail to see the issue really :/

    The issue is that while conceptual ideas are cool, there are better ways to do it than create an entire new song out of a bridge of another song, which was already a recycled part of a song that every U2 fan knows about. I know what you mean, perhaps Glastonbury shouldn't count, but even without it, it's weird.

    It's not my only issue with this song. The song itself is just meh to me, and despite me knowing that Bono has had a hard-on for "America as an idea" forever, this one is a little too on the nose. It's too much telling and not showing.

    That I do agree with, I'm personnally really over the whole pandering to America thing. And I do agree that a new song based on a new idea would've been better than this, of course, even while I think they did a good job myself.

  10. It's a monster of a song... yes it uses the 'You and I are rock n roll' bit from Volcano but it's a great track... will sound great when it bursts in after Own Way, can't believe somebody actually commented about editing out the voice/speech that connects them both.
