The issue is that while conceptual ideas are cool, there are better ways to do it than create an entire new song out of a bridge of another song, which was already a recycled part of a song that every U2 fan knows about. I know what you mean, perhaps Glastonbury shouldn't count, but even without it, it's weird.
It's not my only issue with this song. The song itself is just meh to me, and despite me knowing that Bono has had a hard-on for "America as an idea" forever, this one is a little too on the nose. It's too much telling and not showing.
