See what you mean. There are moments in this song reminding of both Mercy and Always.
IMO this song is way better than YTBTAM.
  2. Sing the YTBTAM Chorus during the chorus. It's the same chords

  3. Yeah, it surprised me when I got my guitar out to figure the chords out. Felt weird then, knowing that two songs next to each other on the album use the same chord pattern. But then I thought... I didn't notice a thing before laying out the chords, myself. So meh, not an issue imho. If it works it work, one prototype can be evolved into multiple songs that sound nothing alike with the same chords, they've done that before.

It's the same chords than WOWY, Miracle Drug and a million other songs.

    D, A, Bm, G (WOWY, Miracle Drug)
    or
G, D, A, Bm (The Best Thing, GOOYOW)

Doesn't matter how you put it, it's the same I–V–vi–IV progression everybody's been using since the 50s.

Same here - but since the video clips came out actually... still not sure what it is. And it’s not just the chords, there is something there ?

Good to have a guitarist amongst us to put things in perspective!
  7. I wonder when we will get the video...
  8. As far as I know, there weren't reports of U2 shooting GOOYOW video here in Brazil. Mostly they did photoshooting and some recording for BBC

Well, in my case I finally traced it back to an album I haven't listened in several years now: Julian Plenti (aka Paul Banks, Interpol), Skyscrapper.

Now that I found the link (not really a strong link anyway, it's just that somehow got stored that way in the back of my mind), and listened to it, it's not bothering me anymore. I'm free to enjoy GOO again.

(it's just the "all night/all night, all right/all right, your fight/your fight" bits, again not that much)
  10. It's just like the lead-in to the Song for Someone chorus sounding exactly like Spandeau Ballet's "True".

    "this is a soooooong"
    "this is the soooouuuuuund"

The two phrases are sung the exact same way, and they're even pretty similar word-wise too

  12. To be honest, don't really like it.
