Yeah, it is, but I still think there's a bit of U2 not really knowing what's best for a first single, either. It always seems like they're chasing what was popular a few years before rather than either what IS or what might be popular, you know?

But it's definitely a science, and you're right, there's a good chance that no matter what they put out as a first single, it wouldn't give them much traction anyway. My local alternative rock station plays U2 all the time, but it's never anything after 2005.

It's popular when they start the album. Its a few years behind when they finish.
  2. The promo tour was starting to get good reviews with the MTV (?) Europe performance. I'm not sure if the Graham Norton appearance also was before the accident; either way, I'm convinced that the promo tour would've been good enough to turn most of the negatives into positives, and the release strategy would've been quite successful... damn bike ruined a solid plan.
  3. Hello, i have pre ordered the album but i can't get the 3 tracks to download. I thought they would be in my u2.com account. Do i miss understood something? Thanks

Have you bought it via u2.com, on their shop? (so not on any other site)

Plus it only works for the deluxe box.

In my opinion U2's biggest issue is time to market. With their ridiculous long product development cycles they will never again come up with a record which really will be considered popular. If you want to come up with a popular single you need to do the whole album within a year or less. In the 80s U2 published 6 albums, in the 90s we only had 3 with the first two done within 3 years until 1993, in 00s we again had 3 and in the 10s we realistically will have 2. Between 1980 and 1993 we had 8 (avg. 1.6yrs), between 1994 and 2017 we only had 6 (avg. 3.8yrs). See the pattern?
  7. Thank you Rémy and you for your feedback.

I bought the LP version from u2.com and got the downloads immediately, although it only came with 2, GOOYOW and Blackout.
  11. I have found mp3 on other plateform, really like the blackout studio version, very promising for the next tour. I have listened to american soul from u2mx ...
