    I agree with everything you say here about the song's shortcomings and Bono expressing his "America isn't a country, it's an idea" theme countless times before. I also hated Volcano.

    And yet...I love this song. Love the heavy riff, love Edge's "hold on Brother John" part before the second chorus, love the "na na na na" soulful choral arrangement on the bridge (an improvement over the only good part of Volcano), love the "will you be my sanctuary, refu-Jesus" line, love that it will kick ass live and hopefully connect with a more explicit anti-Trump theme this tour now that he somehow actually became president.

  3. I understand the whole America is an idea, BUT ITS STILL A BLEEDING COUNTRY..!! It’s not a flippin’ six pack of M&Ms, or a sloppy joe served by Appalachian trailmonks, at 40’000 ft. It’s a country!! ...And Bono can’t convince me otherwise.

  5. I think it is great and of the three we got last week, the one I have been listening to most lately. GOOYOW is a very close second. And The Blackout a very close third. ?
