  2. Just heard it for the first time, first impressions

    Excluding the songs I had already heard, the ones I loved the most (and sounded a bit achtung babyesque to me) were

    Love Is All We Have Left
    Landlady

    Also loved The Showman and Love Is Bigger Than Anything in Its Way

    I think Lights of Home and Red Flag Day will grow a lot on me, I was looking for the riff that Edge plays on a Fender video and that kind if distracted me and I didnt enjoy them completely, that's why I chose to hear the album, because i didnt want to have more preconceived ideas.

    On first listen I think the album is fantastic.
  3. Back from a few hours of work. Can anybody pls fill me in on the latest status? When I left Rob's FB stream was the best available version. Is there anything better available in the meantime?

    It's complicated...

    for context, I liked them all, I don't have anything against those tracks.
    And maybe I also overplayed them a bit, so the rest of the album need to catch up in replays for me. And then maybe my opinion change.

    But right now, yes, the only "old" song I'm playing because it "fits" in the album, is Blackout.
    The other 3... sound out of place indeed. They're still good to me, but I don't feel like listening while listening the rest of it.

  10. A good album, but for now absolutely not better than SOI. SOE has no Iris, Cedarwood road, The Troubles, sleep like baby and raised by wolves. But like SOI SOE needs more listenings so opinions can change.

    SOI had good reviews when it came out and it hasn't changed.

    NLOTH had awesome reviews, then it had a disappointing feeling, but lately it has get back a "it's great except for x and y!" vibe.

    SOE... I think the people that usually complains the most about U2's last few albums, won't complain much about this one (except for the already known tracks), and I don't think the people who usually likes those albums will have anything against this one either.

    More stripped down, more "serious", different to what they've been doing for years. It's a good work.
