1. Really? Stay away from the topic. Same like if you don’t want tour/setlist spoilers. Leaks happen with almost every album. NLOTH was being discussed here when it leaked. People are excited and this is the place to discuss it.
  2. A number of years ago, deleting posts and not talking about the album until release would have been normal, but you can't really do that today. If it's not talked on here then it will be talked on twitter, Facebook, etc. Not talking about it here makes no difference anymore.

A review embargo exists for publications who are paid to critique a product for the point of helping to market it.

This is a fan getting the album early and letting other fans join in on hearing it early. He most certainly does not have a valid point, nor is this any sort of moral dilemma. Anyone here is more than willing to PM the link to those who ask.

I think this is a case of fans who are happy to hear a poor recording and fans who aren’t, and those who aren’t are deciding to take some kind of high horse approach to the argument.
  4. not "ask"... but damn how much I'd love to listen to it! I'm just expressing my willingness to listen to it.
  5. Sorry, yes. That’s what I meant!

    exactly
  7. What do the Mods think about this??
  8. Anyway to get back on topic....

Someone yesterday said that if SoI and SoE are together, if they’re considered sort of one double album/companion piece, they’d put them up there with U2’s best work. On my third listen today of SoE, I wouldn’t be surprised if eventually we all feel this way.

Not only is this album fantastic and probably U2’s best in years, dealing with mortality, aging, being a parent, a partner, etc, it also does for SoI what something like Star Wars: Rogue One did for A New Hope (stay with me). By alluding back to certain points on that album, it by nature gives THAT album even more context and meaning now. This album doesn’t feel like a “sequel”, it feels like a brother or sister to SoI, intertwining itself with it, and both albums gain even more as a result. It’s quite something.

I used to always say that from an artistic standpoint and what U2’s “legacy” means, they’d should’ve stopped after Window in the Skies. For me that would mean never being able to see them live, never getting 360, the songs on NLOTH I like, etc. I was still beating that drum after SoI because I still felt as though it would’ve been a good moment for them to walk away.

How wrong I’ve been. I hope this isn’t U2’s final chapter, but what a finale it is if it is to be the finale. This album, the companion albums of SoI and SoE, just..wow. Thank you, U2.
  9. I haven't listened to the FB stream, although I was tempted, because I'd much rather wait until Friday to hear the album. I completely understand why people want to listen to it now though and I certainly don't think anything less of those that do.

    5 days and counting.........
  10. I don't have any moral problem with leaks and sharing.

If people would've paid for it, they will pay for it. I don't think the sharing affects people's decisions on that matter.

Plus, in here we all are buying it anyway, and many are doing it in several formats, and some won't even open it. Again, I see nothing that could question the morality or integrity of anyone here. Not if links are open talked about, or even if links were openly shared.

Now, legally? Well, that's a different topic, and there's rules and there's loopholes, but that doesn't have much to do with morality or integrity.
  11. How many people have spotify ? They all listen for free december 1st and a lot of those won't buy the album ....
