    Amen, my thoughts exactly.

Also, how The Little Things has ended up sounding like reminds me a bit of Up In Flames, my favourite song from the last good Coldplay album.

the first part on all live versions was just waiting for the second part, right?
  3. 'When the painted glass shatters and you're the only thing that matters...' is this what this is referred to here?

Musically. The electronic drums. It feels a little slow. Some of the emotion has been lost versus the more raw live version.

I feel the same. The live versions were just so much better, unfortunately. Still, it's a brilliant song but that emotion as Gerard says, doesn't seem to have translated here. Why they couldn't have recorded the live version and just added little touches to that to make it as studio as possible would've done a far better job. Still think these are some of Bono's best lyrics in a very long time. They aren't cheesy and dumbed down at some points, just a strong lyrical statement overall.

Yes. Is it painted glass? Can't make that out either, but maybe just me
  5. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was painted glass in the official lyric but bono didn’t sing it that way. I remember for New York that ‘concrete asphalt’ bit he definitely doesn’t sing they lyrics on the album.
  6. Definitely sounds to me like 'painted glass', but the line seems to be a bit obscured, so a little harder to hear it.
  7. Meh, as someone who only heard one or two live versions and was frankly underwhelmed by them, this is doing it for me.
  8. its "when the pane of glass shatters" I reckon
  9. I really think you get 3 times the edge and the band on the album version that you get from the live version.

It builds on each delivery of the word sometimes before there’s an absolute explosion on the final one. The live version is simply the live version and it’s great but this song utilises the studio in an amazingly dynamic way. Just listen to what Edge is doing.

I find myself listening to this over and over and over. It really goes for it.

Yep. I love it. Sounds very much like a UF track in terms of its atmosphere.
