  2. Nme is just as bad as rolling stone with u2. Nme is a joke I’d never take their opinion on u2 seriously. Same with rolling stone. Two opposite sides of the spectrum.

    But at least Rolling Stone has some arguments with respect to content of the songs to substantiate their opinion.

    NME is just a flood of ant-U2 sentiment. Basically they are saying that the album is not good because Bono is a hypocrite
    and the band only "in it" for the money. Such arguments say more about NME than they say about SOE...
  7. Criticism aside, I really do think we live in a bubble here at U2Start when it comes to whether U2 are "relevant" or not. It's funny, I've spent the past week on here talking with you guys about the new U2, about the new album, about how we're all so excited it's coming on Friday, and when I step away from the website and talk to others about music, they're not even on anyone's radar, at least when it comes to what's charting, what's popular.

    But guess what, I'm glad. Know why? Because in a discussion I had with someone about this, they showed me that THIS is currently what's charting:

    Very true. Even though rolling stone will always give a new u2 release 4 or more stars they do provide some insight. Nme takes every opportunity to bash u2. Ridiculous.

    That's a very flippant comment considering U2 were on the cover of NME five times during ZooTV tour and followed the band around on their private plane. Once it hit the Noughties, NME was completely refocused once the indie explosion happened, now employing music journalists with an agenda who form preconceived opinions and generally do not appreciate what they consider as "dated" stadium rock artists. I'm not defending NME as their figures speak for themselves – they are, incidentally, much more "dated" than U2 and, funnily enough, have no relevance in the music criticism market anymore. But your "racism" comment is rather skewed, personally.
