That's a very flippant comment considering U2 were on the cover of NME five times during ZooTV tour and followed the band around on their private plane. Once it hit the Noughties, NME was completely refocused once the indie explosion happened, now employing music journalists with an agenda who form preconceived opinions and generally do not appreciate what they consider as "dated" stadium rock artists. I'm not defending NME as their figures speak for themselves – they are, incidentally, much more "dated" than U2 and, funnily enough, have no relevance in the music criticism market anymore. Every single site starts their review with the failure of the SOI/Apple-launch. Biggest mistake of a lifetime. It still haunts them. And it's a bit of a trend to bash U2.
