1. and .....this is the story of u2: people all over the world love or hate them. For SOI only a little part of the world refused the idea , it was a new way to make promotion and to share music. The majority enjoyed it. For sure if someone don't love the band try to fight the 4 bandmates with everything, every theme, just like playing a game, a kind of sport , just to say or write something negative. Imo ps we must not forget the way Radiohead launched "in rainbows", free offer on line .

I still meet lots of people who still play a lot of U2 and listen to U2 regularly because of what they did with SOI. Sure, it didn't win them the popularity price but thanks to it they reached a lot more people. Maybe that's what's way more important.
I loved the way they released it. It was a memorable day and a release I’ll never forget. A brand new u2 album? Out of nowhere? Instantly available to hear? With no prior single? And I still love the album and tour that accompanied it.

Here I am to reclaim its position as a great album AND a fantastic collection of songs at the same time (not all great collections of songs are good albums). Its theme, the way it appeared out of the damn blue in a cold September afternoon, the extras, the controversy, the tour, everything. Don't let SOE's poppy sparkle deceive you.

    VIVA Songs of Innocence !
