1. Man, this album starts so freaking good, then it falls as flat as it gets at the second song (The String version of Lights of home is so much better, why going with the snoozefest version?), until Summer of love. Summer of love and Red flag day are fantastic, I like The Little things and Landlady. I hate The Showman.
I will have a few more listen, so far it's the best Album since POP to me. I'm one of these guys saying, U2 never really released something interesting since 97´. I have to say, they doing good right now. I like this album! (Can't believe it.)

  2. just finished reading it, gives a great insight into the songs.

And if we're speculating: I think it's heart attack. The Blackout - apart of Trump/Brexit references... is about having a heart attack. Very clear to me.

cardiac arrest is how i interrupted it, glad to hear he is in better health now though
  4. In the liner notes for SOE, he says he was arrested and had a gun pulled on him from behind and told to put his hands above his head - he stated he wouldn't go into further details to avoid the melodrama of the reality TV world

It didn’t say that in the notes I read. At least not in those words, it was a clear metaphor to me about being arrested. He even says ‘I don’t want to name it’ so something happened regarding his health.
  6. Arrested could be cardiac arrest, arrested could have been the police kind. I think he was vague on purpose. However most people’s faith shouldn’t weaken after a cardiac arrest. Poor lifestyle choices lead to that fate. That’s why I was thinking more of the police type of arrest or army arrest

He drinks pretty liberally, I think...which can cause elevated blood pressure and heart attacks.

It'd be ridiculous if that weakened his faith, so I suppose something else could've happened. It's not the first time he's questioned it either: Wake Up Dead Man, Peace on Earth.
  8. Alrtight, heard it for the first time! I'm definitely not imparital but this is huge! It sounds so current! After NLOTH and SOI, that's exactly what I was hoping for!!! And the choruses are big, big, big!!! LOVE IT!
Early favorites: Love Is Bigger, Red Flag Day, Little Things

You couldn't function like that, as a alcoholic. That's for sure.
