  1. I definitely dig the variety in opinions though, as much as it surprises me

    I find it so weird to see people say they wish this album was more “Dad-rock” while also saying they want U2 to go against the grain.

    This album sounds modern but it doesn’t sound like what is at the top of the charts now. That is ridiculous to say. It doesn’t sound like rap, it isn’t EDM
    No one said this album was rap or edm. Honestly please don’t respond to my posts. Just like I ignore yours please ignore mine and let’s just do co-exist here. This would be like me bashing people who LOVE the album because I don’t. You’re the only person here who immediately bashes someone’s opinion when it’s not the same as yours. Don’t worry about what I consider rock n roll.

    Awesome! Me too. I want people to love this album and as Sergio said I’m sure these songs will sound better live.

    Good opinion. I do like SOE, but misses a bit The Edge. For me SOI is better, but would not say miles better.

    Absolutely. Lucky they are still around and not go into auto pilot.

The fact that your profile pic is Zooropa, like mine, added to the confusion...I've never considered Zooropa to be rock n roll, or even AB, JT, etc. The early U2 is more punk. Additionally ATYCLB is as far as SoE is from r n r.

    But it's all subjective.

    I kind of agree, being a rock fan makes it harder to appreciate a straightforwardly-poppy album like this one... But having ears open helps a lot. I don't consider most of Passengers, The Unforgettable Fire or Rattle And Hum to be "rock" but I like them anyway because they have the U2 seal and the U2 scent - even if they're playing a different game to what I'm used to love them for.

    I'm pretty confident this new songs will improve when they play them live. At the end of the day they're a rock band, and no matter how overcooked and cheesy are the songs in their studio form, they can make them rock live.

    Just out of curiosity, which are these "good songs somewhere" for you?
    It’s still early. I’ll get back to you. But I can honestly say I prefer your version of SOL hands down. I’m gonna give another listen tonight at the gym. Still haven’t got to Book of heart.
  9. I've always considered U2 a rock band,i mean sure they've had their fair share of gentle songs and plenty of mainstream hit singles but that does not make them a pop act.
    All of U2 's albums are great in their own way,thats why i love the band.

    Hahaha oh man, that's BIG praise right there. Not sure if I feel humbled or plainly embarrased : But thanks anyway.

    Many of these songs are growers though, give them their time, take one or two listens, then let'em rest for a few hours/couple of days, then come back and you'll see there's much more below that poppy, over-polished surface. Good luck
