1. What's this of people saying there's a high quality version of SOE out now? What's people thoughts on the sound, any difference?

Ohh... "the stars up theeeere!", love that line...

    ---

Yeah, although it has a few of what I feel like darkish songs, the overall tone of it is more uplifting...

  3. Most of them are swedish reporters. They are bashing SOE. Calling it grey, old sounding,
  4. All the tracks I really like so far (Love Is All We Have Left, Summer Of Love, Little Things, 13, Book Of Your Heart & Lights Of Home - String Version) weren't a single/pre-release. How do they do it . Therefore I love the album a whole lot better then I would have thought.

    1. There are others songs that sort of take the centre-stage in the album, delivering
the whole message/narrative - leaving the current song to be not so important to the overall message of the album.
    2. (Sort of dependent on 1) I'd have to be ok with removing that song from the album. entirely - without the value of the album changing.

Don't have this at the moment with SOE. Even Best Thing, or Showman which everyone seems to hate - I want them there
fine, then I agree with your concept of "no filler" in there.

I think there are tracks that are a highlight on their own, and there are tracks that are not, even if they work amazing on the context of their album...

...I'll try to use an example...
In a fruit cake, you get the fruit pieces and then you get the bread.
The bread for me is the filler.
This album has more bread than fruit, but is a delicious bread.
Overall, is an amazing cake, but -to me- it has lots of filler (and I'm not complaining).

Following that example, to me SOI has more fruit than SOE, but the bread in SOE is way more delicious than the bread in SOI... that's why I continue to push the idea of mixing both albums: you get more delicious bread, and more fruit.
  7. OK, listened to the album half a dozen times now, so think I can comment.
    It is fantastic.
Sounds fresh, sounds RELEVANT, sounds well produced, beautiful lyrics, great bass, awesome drumming (the ghost of John Bonham appears on a few tracks), Bono singing like a bird and Edge doing what Edge does best.
Ive seen people knocking the album on Facebook, but these people seem to only like 80s U2 I think.
It is, in short,I think an album most bands starting out would dream of making - and the album most bands in their late 50's are not capable of making.
    Well done boys.
  8. It’s beautiful.

It's for audiophiles. If you are a person that generally prefers 24 bit FLAC over 16 bit (or something), then this would be your kind of album (the high-def one)
  10. Makes me very happy seeing all these positive comments

It makes me realise how special this is. A group of artists, after 41 years.. still being capable of this.

Indeed, my thoughts exactly. I didn’t see it coming either.

The wife sings along with most of the songs already - she would only sing EBW the last time around. She’s mostly into Bowie and Depeche Mode; so I take it as a very good sign
  12. I did not know they had it in them. This is a great record and I think they succeeded at what they set out to do music wise, production wise, and lyrically - very well done! While I was wishing for something more angry and experimental.. it is hard to resist the hooks, melodies and songs that this collection has given us. Even more excited about the tour!
