I thought I would be happy if they managed to make one REALLY great song on this record, but they actually made... at least six or seven. I mean, the melodies, the soul, the dignity and the feeling of SOE is something quite special. Also special to see the reaction from the U2 community. I'm actually in tears reading a lot of the comments here and on twitter - how much this means to us and how it is bringing us closer to each other and the band. That's something I didn't believed I would ever experience again, since becoming a fan during the Zoo TV era.

    Nice post.
  3. Damn, that's pretty dope.

Also, yeah, that short clip on their facebook page seemingly with a WAY different version of Showman sounds really cool and weird.

Sounds so much better a little more better
  5. Think so? It sounds interesting, but I definitely like the playful feel of the version on the album. To me the song is funny, and the tone of the music should be too. That one just sounds a little dark Like Bono isn't making fun of himself, he's HATING himself lmao.

    Spotify is perfect sounding imo:T
  7. Not a regular poster here, and I’ve read the positive and negative reviews with interest. My thoughts are U2 have written a nice melodic album, that has a contemporary feel but lacks something. My favorite U2 albums are where the edge stands out, AB is all about the edge but here he’s sometimes in the background. That’s what a band like Coldplay do but not u2. It’s inevitable when you’re around for 40 yrs other artists will copy your style but when U2 start copying those bands that copy them maybe it’s time to consider should we still do this. Part of me actually hopes this is their last album, they’ve done it all, wrote some fab stuff, but don’t ruin your legacy by keep going.

I like this album it’s well produced, nice melodies and i’m sure live it’ll work well but I wouldn’t want another of these.

Who was it that said taste is the enemy of art!
