But that’s my point. It has been the same sound/feel since ATYCLB. And that’s ok. It is good.
But you can not compare the Boy, October, War sound/feel with the UF, JT (RH) sound/feel or the AB, Zooropa, POP. Sound/feel.
And now, for approx. 20 years, it is the same feeling. For me at least...
Maybe I am just getting old...
I don't know, we can't get in the head of each other to listen what the other is getting.
But I don't get the same feeling from SOE than from Leave Behind.

It certainly is not going all out in weirdness as the 90's albums, but throughout the album I don't get the overproduced glossy mid tempo I felt in Leave Behind and Dismantle, either.

I was afraid, and I would've agree with you totally in that case, that the album was going to be full of songs of the Best Thing or Get Out style... I was convinced that Summer Of Love and Landlady and All We Have Left and Showman and Lights Of Home all those were gonna sound like that, so the stripped down "indie" sound totally was unexpected for me.

Also, in the "20 years..." comment, I do believe that SOI has more interesting sounds, Reach Me Now, Troubles, Sleep Like a Baby...
  2. In general I miss the sharpness of Edges guitar in most songs on soe and some songs are too short and not finished.

True, everybody feels or hears different things.
For now I prefer SOI over SOE. Both or good albums. But nothing really surprises me.
There are no songs on SOE that really jump out. Besides the ones you already heard, if you ask me.
American Soul is basically Volcano with different lyrics. The little things is the best song on the album, I think. But they played that a couple of times during the last tour.

  4. To clarify. If they are gonna play Elevation and or Vertigo again. I am leaving...
Sorry, to the fans of those songs, but I have heared those to many times now. And they are not as special or great as the other songs they always play.
  5. Love this album and its awesome. Sound of 4 adults men that r making great music. Who has ever done what they are doing at there age and still at the top of there game! No one! Special band and we should dame recognize it.

oh I agree with you on there.
Yesterday I was arguing that SOE has lots of "flller", even if I think is great "filler", and I compared SOI and SOE with a fruit cake:

I think there are tracks that are a highlight on their own, and there are tracks that are not, even if they work amazing on the context of their album...

...I'll try to use an example...
In a fruit cake, you get the fruit pieces and then you get the bread.
The bread for me is the filler.
This album has more bread than fruit, but is a delicious bread.
Overall, is an amazing cake, but -to me- it has lots of filler (and I'm not complaining).

Following that example, to me SOI has more fruit than SOE, but the bread in SOE is way more delicious than the bread in SOI... that's why I continue to push the idea of mixing both albums: you get more delicious bread, and more fruit.

No one said this album was rap or edm. Honestly please don’t respond to my posts. Just like I ignore yours please ignore mine and let’s just do co-exist here. This would be like me bashing people who LOVE the album because I don’t. You’re the only person here who immediately bashes someone’s opinion when it’s not the same as yours. Don’t worry about what I consider rock n roll.

It was a legitimate question. Sounds and genres change so much. I have always wondered how artists can be locked into a specific genre you know?

Maybe testing it out live as a good thing for the song? Maybe as they did it at concerts they thought “We should change this, etc.” Then perhaps the next live version will be more perfected because of this?

Does anyone else feel this way?

On iTunes I have all of my U2 music listed under "rock" just to make things easier

I agree. I don’t really think of genre that much.

    True that.

  12. Just their own U2 genre
