1. After the shine of being new songs has passed and I don't feel like You're The Best Thing About Me is older than Red Flag Day, I have to say that I really like this album's "happy meal".

I think they're really good songs, specially Best Thing and Own Way. Particularly I think Best Thing is one of the best "pop" songs they've made.

American Soul has the silly chorus and to me, musically sounds like another shot at Vertigo, Stand Up, and Miracle... I enjoy it more than 2 out of those 3, but I could've live without it.
  2. i am so happy tonight, I decided that I LOVE SOE....it took 4 listens with headphones on and eyes closed. It completely grew on me and I think it is BRILLIANT! THANK YOU U2, I STILL LOVE YOU!
  3. Okay, I really am liking Best thing now. That song has massively grown on me. I think the music video helped though, and now I see the song in a new light. I also think it sounds pretty great live. This has definitely happened to me before with new U2 songs, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
  4. Loving the album, except the last two songs, a little too cheesy for me.

I have to agree - i like it a lot more than when it first came out. It just fits well in the album. Still not in my top 5 but thats because there are a lot of great songs to choose from.

    +1

I've now listened to the album over a whole week, in various settings.

I can reinforce that I love it!
  7. I'm amazed at the amount of discussion that SoE is triggering! And I'm not referring to this forum only...Do other bands' albums also have such discussion?

    Ouch.
Do, or do not, there is not try.

No need for every wannabe reviewer to like it. The album is fantastic, already been number 1 on iTunes charts pretty much everywhere. Fail? What fail? Review fail!
  9. Wow! Saw the SNL live performances online...Great job! Especially "Get Out Of Your Own Way"!
