  1. Haven't seen Own Way, but I thought American Soul was pretty good.

And I think the megaphone is a valid resource.
I thought it was put in good use 2 years ago in Bullet, and I don't see a problem using it for the YouAreRockNRoll shout, cause it's not really singing but shouting, just like it was back in Bullet's speech.
  2. When reading some of these comments, it's important to remember that a lot of people here seem to be addicted to drama and will accuse you of "not respecting opinions" when you call them out for it.

Anyhow, from the two songs performed on SNL I think we can form a few conclusions. The first is the sound team really botched the audio mixing last night. The second is that it sounds like Bono is getting over a cold or some other sort of sickness.

Third point is the whole idea that Larry doesn't give a fuck deserves to be moved into the Drunk Thread.
  3. Guess people forgot that interview done by Australian tv where Larry said he’s still having fun with it all. If that wasn’t true, he wouldn’t just not have said it, he wouldn’t have done the fuckin interview lol.

I thought there was a real issue with the sound for American Soul. It’s a song really which Adam should be leading with the bass but Edge’s guitar stood out a mile and not in the way I wanted it to stand out. The bits he was playing were great but he needed Adam’s bass to be more prominent. I think it has huge potential live though.

  5. Yeah actually I found footage of the whole acceptance speech for the first time, Larry doesn't look like he doesn't give a fuck. At all.

American Soul is great live, and was much better than GOOYOW.

I wonder if the megaphone was used a lot as it was clear to me Bono was having some voice issues....

GOOYOW wasn't that good to my ears, but agree that American Soul was decent enough and that the megaphone actually works with the whole theme, in a way.

Still, wish they were promoting this album with some other songs...

  8. + 1.
Still feels to me like if they were promoting AB with So Cruel and a demo from the Hansa tapes.

The Snl mix was not very good. Edges guitar was too loud and over powered bass and drums and vocals.
Thought both songs were average. I’m sure they will get better as they play them more.
  10. I thought Edge's guitar sounded much better compared to the London performance of GOOYOW. Yeah the key might not be right still and I reckon they will probably still be playing around with that to help Bono, but something sounded really off to me with Edge's guitar in the London performance and seems they are getting closer to finding the best way to play it.

I don't think anyone is "addicted to drama" mate, that's just a controversial comment for the sake of it. People are allowed opinions, some people can't respect them so if it irks you just ignore it.

And can people stop the flippancy of saying that Larry doesn't give a fuck at all? Most people here are stating that he looks like he doesn't give a toss, there's a huge difference.

Did you see their performance? It was pathetic. Megaphone and all.
