  1. This is extremely morbid and depressing, but the recurring themes of mortality and "ending" on Songs of Experience repeatedly make me realize that one day this band will end, and so will the lives of the people in it

    I get sad when people like David Bowie die, but I can't imagine seeing my own heroes pass I'll be a fucking train wreck.

    Jeez, me too. I really dread the day they say they're through or we lose one of them. They really are sort of modern myths to me.

His mother was killed in a car accident in 1978 just before his seventeenth birthday, and the band’s twenty-six-year-old personal assistant Greg Carroll was killed in a Dublin motorcycle accident in July 1986, resulting in “The Joshua Tree” album being dedicated to his memory. On this date in 2000, Mullen came to the rescue of a motorcyclist who had been involved in an accident.     I'm still hoping for a B-side collection release with songs like: North Star, Mercy, Glastonbury etc. but I'm afraid that will only happen when they stop being a band
  12. I don't know... I have a feeling that if they had switched places between North Star (appearing in SOI) and Song For Someone (snippet in 360, small appearance in Transformers, ignored after that), people would be salivating over Song for Someone and complaining that North Star is cheesy and bland.
