The origins of Songs Of Experience

Months of work, research and much input has gone into our extensive analysis of everything that is Songs of Experience: themes, lyrics, music, mortality, Blake, religion, letters, photographs, Ned & Jack and what is next for U2.

Hope you all like it, it's a long read but worth it!
very very well written!, a must read. thanks
  2. Well-written read! However:
One of Bono’s songs, Elijah, actually is the frontman of his own band, so some of the lyrics about singing may be directed to him: "Start singing stop talking. If I can only listen to what I say."
I believe "songs" should read "sons".
  3. This is pretty cool. I didn't know about all the history behind some of these tracks (LIAWHL for one).
  4. Vinyl from u2.com has arrived!!
  5. This has been a real labour of love for Remy over the last few weeks and probably months, getting to the origin of all these songs and what they're all about. It's a very insightful read and definitely worth your time reading through. There are probably all kinds of tidbits in there that you perhaps didn't know about.

Remy... you do realise that you now have to go through the entire back catalogue and do the same for each album?! You've set such a high standard with this one that I think that's probably the next few years of your life fully mapped out then!
  6. On the tour for Songs Of Innocence, we setup this argument between the two selves

Is he talking about the Bullet The Blue Sky thing where he talked to his younger self?
