  2. So you're basically saying the band can charge what they like even if it comes across as just greed pure and simple. As that is really what it is. Charging £200 for a seat is just greed.

    It's irrespective of what touts/reselling sites will charge. the ticket price should not be based on what resale sites sell them at.

    Is it greed though when people would only go and pay the same money to a tout. If I was a musician I’d rather get the money than see some chancer try and make money out of me. It’s not about needing the money or anything but the principal. The touts literally do nothing except click a few buttons probably and make money out of it, at least the band go and perform every night, I know who I’d rather be paying. Also if people weren’t happy to pay that amount then too many tickets would go unsold and the shows wouldn’t be profitable but it appears that plenty of people are happy to pay it, not touts but genuine fans must be snapping up the £200+ tickets because it’s not they ones that are appearing on viagogo it’s the cheaper seats that the touts are pricing at £150 or so. The price is based on what people are willing to pay and by the looks of things on the European tour they haven’t overpriced it at all as the majority of tickets are selling leaving only a small amount which limits the touts profitability.
  4. After U2 grossed $316 million from last year's JT tour, I wonder if that takes into account the money made from resale sites as well ? I know they don't make the profit from the money finally charged for each ticket, but there are additional/website fee's e.t.c so would they be included, just to make the figures stack up ?

    Good point, explained well, pricing is a way to squeeze out the touts and you are right if the majority of tickets are selling they have not overpriced. For JT30 most of Twickenham was sold at £160 per ticket (plus those fees !!)
    But touts will no doubt benefit from resale of standing tickets when they are eventually released. U2 / Live Nation appear to have ditched any attempt to stop resale of these, original booker name on ticket, presenting credit card used to book tickets at venue etc. Plus by holding them back fans are under pressure to buy the seats. For I&E at London O2, an allocation for standing tickets were released about a week before the shows, hopefully this will happen again.

  8. So are those people who didnt have to type in their experience pre sale code for London going to try and use them for the next presale?

    I am not going to do this as a matter of principal even if it did work. I was lucky enough to get Londkn GA so would like people who didnt get a chance to do so this time round.

    As horrible as its been this time round- if i only get to one gig instead of 4- and 3 other people who wouldnt have got tickets do- im ok with that. Although i guess thats not how it works.

    O2 presale in UK looks to be 31st at 12pm, so 2 hrs after innocence.
    Live nation is 9 am on 1st Feb.

    Hopefully album one is staggered, say 11am.

    Ticketmaster saves this info and sends it to Universal. Might be that used codes still work fine for other countries though.

    First post hopefully you can help, l have been emailing u2.com regarding it but the replies have been very vague to say the least.

    Basically l purchased 2 tickets for the NA tour using my u2.com subscriber code. However l checked my account around a week ago and there was a new code in it for the European tour plus the fact U2.com emailed me telling me about the presale and my innocent group code. I have tried the code and it does work but l have not purchased no tickets with it.
