It's sad though when you see what seem to be decisions focussed on short term profit damaging the brand - all the empty unsold seats in the US now because of over-saturation and the pricing model (although i noticed GAs still available in some cities ). Maybe LN makes as much money on a partly empty stadium with high revenue sold seats as a sold out show with cheaper seats, but cant imagine U2 like to see that.
I reckon the band are extremely removed from any decision making process regarding tour plans. Just look at them on stage. They are micromanaged to the point of where they stand and where they move around. They are just the audience facing final cog of a huge industrial machine.

I can't get too annoyed at this whole ticketing regime as I know my top price and there are still plenty of tickets available for purchase at the price limit I set myself.

Your money and your choice mate. I'm sure there are many of us that wish they were in that fortunate a position to blow that kind of money out on the lash. Your post comes across a bit like 'well I'm alright and I can afford it' so sod the rest. I can't really relate though as I've never had the inclination to spend that much on a night out either...
  3. I paid 160SEK for my ticket in 1987. With the inflation, that amounts to roughly 310SEK in 2017, or some 31EUR. In 2017 I paid 115,90EUR, so the true price has more than trippled. Since then, that price has doubled. So if my maths are correct, at least for some seats, the price of a ticket is 6 times higher now after inflation than 31 years ago, with a 100% increase after last christmas spendings.
I find that sad, even if I can afford it, to see event tickets becoming more expensive than, say, flight tickets. I wonder what it feels like these days for a sixteen year old to pay for tickets. How much is pocket money today?
  4. Does anyone know whether I get access to the presale when I subscribe now? In otherf words: do I get a code if I do it today? Last friday I did not manage to get tickets... :-(

You will get an innocence code immediately if you register now.

OMG that's bleak "They are just the audience facing final cog of a huge industrial machine". But I suppose you are right.

When you see the show two nights running and realise that Edge's walks over to stage left or down the catwalk are entirely scripted and repeated each night. It kills a little bit of the magic.

I don't know about that Bono stayed out on B stage for a lot of the JT show in Berlin as it was lashing rain all night and he wore his hat for most of the gig so his hair dye wouldn't run
The show needs to be cohesive otherwise it would be a complete mess especially with all the visuals they use 90% only see it once so they don't know if the gig was the same as the last.Since McGuinness stepped aside their touring itinerary is bizzare touring the US for a 3rd time in 3 years is beyond crazy while Eastern Europe and Auz/NZ gets shafted.

No mate, once in a blue moon. What I’m saying is we are paying out in a special item/ event so worth the fee, not like it happens every week like going to watch premier league football where you can spend £100 plus (ticket, parking, beers etc) to watch your team lose or draw 0-0 in the pissing rain. Watching u2 will have a premium price as it’s a premium event. Cheers.

I cringe even more when I hear Bono "reading" from prompter the same speeches every show... but hey, they are not Pearl Jam aren't they?

I despise a lot of this "scripted" elements, but that's the part of the game :/
Even in 1987 so it was... I remember being so "touched" by the R&H SBS performance when I first heard it.... only to hear the same speech at different shows later when I got to the bootleg world.

Back to topic - we still need a decent clarification of the Presales for next week?! Experience / Innocnce / Retail!
  11. Maybe we should have a separate topic on this tours pricing, so we can keep this one to sales alone to avoid getting important information missed out. I will also put some of the important info in the opening post right now.
