I'm going to night one in Philly with my wife and 4 kids.
I was able to get 2 GA in fan club pre-sale, but ticket limits prevented me from buying 4 more.
So, I bought 4 together on StubHub. I'm just not willing to head down to the show with my kids needing 4 tickets, you know?
Yep, just don't buy them. If you're ok with these prices, you're most likely an .....(Maybe, i dont know, i'm not allowed here to say so.). Give that money to someone who could life for a month of your ticket price(For one person). Have some fun though.

Anybody can pay what they want for tickets. It is your own choice what you want to pay.
  3. That's right, it just might be an ethical question then. But who cares, right?

I thought we were debating 'when' to buy, not whether to buy or not buy.

And the 4 tix I purchased on StubHub were very close to what they would have cost on ticketmaster. And they are cheap seats. I love my kids, but they are not worth $300 a ticket.
(of course now...I could buy the same tix on stub hub for below face value..I never was good at predicting the future. )

  5. Wow, check this out. 3 VERY different ticket prices for tonight's show in San Jose within 9 rows and half a section of each other. (Straight from Ticketmaster, not re-sale.)

Honestly, forget my ranting! I wish you and your family a blast off a concert, wich it will be! It will be loud, it will be U2, it will be great!
  7. It is always an ethical question. I had field tickets for the JT tour in Amsterdam. And was waiting in line since 07:00 hrs, only to find out that there were no closed sections.... And friends of mine had to move to the back because it was getting to crowded....
    Is that fair?

Absolutely. Enjoy the show with you family!

Not true by the way. Milan 3 struggled to sell out. Then, they significantly reduced ticket prices for Milan 3 and Milan 4 tickets were overall for almost all categories cheaper than for Milan 1, 2 and 3.

Sure, that's why I said "most" of the shows. They squeezed a bit the Italian audience with 4 shows. A bit of the same for England (2Man+2Lon) and Germany with the 6 shows. All of the rest sold out almost instantly no matter the pricing. There'll be ticket drops for most/all of the EU shows but I don't think they'll be as abundant and fruitful as the US ones.

No worries. We all need a good rant sometimes.

Whomever is in charge of pricing needs a sacking for this. It's infuriating. With all due respect to rich people ("who have feelings too", as Larry said) most U2 fans don't have $600 to drop on 2 tickets at short notice.

Going to see a U2 show is *never* just about the ticket price. It's all about the travel, the days off work, the kids (are they coming, or are you getting help?), hotels if you're more than 2 hours drive from the show, and everything else that comes with it. Even the most expensive ticket for me on iE had additional costs of at least double that to get there, eat, drink, and stay over. A $76 ticket on a show would cost me at least $200 with everything else included. A $300 ticket would mean at least $400 in actual expenditure.

We've made plans within limited budgets about the number of shows we can make and how many we can see. This tour, *many* of us are priced out of doing more than one show and not the usual 3-4. U2 may be making more money overall, but it's costing them goodwill : not only will many of us chosen ONE show, when we'd rather have more than one, but also the people sat next to and around us will have got tickets for a third of the price : and we could have got an extra show or two for that (and U2 would have still made the money), instead of dramatically reducing ticket prices near to the show to sell to people who don't *love* the band, don't see multiple shows, and would just as happily pay that same money to see anyone of a dozen stadium acts.

Excluding fans due to unpredictable and hostile pricing is the very antithesis of what U2 actually stood for. Someone needs to take Guy to one side and explain to him that it's for love - not money - and squeezing the market dry like Van Halen with endless touring cycles in the same saturated markets will *only* make money and not serve the band well in the future. We'll run out of money , time, and patience to do multiple repeat tours, and at the *same* time the band have toured Europe and the US three times each without touching NZ, Aus, Japan, Russia, South Africa. 93 US shows, and around 84 European shows in the time they have managed to play *everywhere else* 10 times.

They will have played Madison Square Garden more times in 2015-18 than they have played everywhere in the world that isn't America or Europe by the end of 2018. Whilst personally, I benefit from them playing Europe too much and reduced price tickets, it is costing the band the goodwill of long term, not-millionaire fans.

    tl;dr - please play Brazil.

All very well argued and nothing I can disagree with sadly. The MSG vs WORLD stat is shocking.

Nevertheless, I want to add something:

@U2 yes, please play Brazil, play Argentina, play South Africa, play Asia, play Oceania... sure. But PLEASE DO NOT SQUEEZE THOSE FANS TO DEATH with absurdly high ticket prices like you did last year:
