    U2 GA Process – Tuesday, May 22 & Wednesday, May 23

    The following approved process will be implemented on both nights of the U2 show at the United Center for the General Admission (GA) pit:

    - STARTING TIME: At 9 AM, guests will receive numbered wristbands. This represents the order they will be lined up in for GA pit access that night.
    - LOCATION: Fans will only receive wristbands from a credentialed United Center security employee at Gate 5 on both days.
    - LEAVING PRIVILEGES: Once the wristband is received, guests are free to leave and return to Gate 5 later in the day by 4:30 PM.
    - RETURNING TIME: All guests with a wristband must return to the United Center and be lined up in order by 4:30 PM on the concert night to have wristband number honored.
    - LATE ARRIVAL: If a guest with a numbered wristband arrives after 4:30 PM on concert night, the guest will be placed in line after the last guest in line.
    - NIGHTLY WRISTBANDS: The order for the Tuesday show will not be honored for the Wednesday show. A new wristband must be received at 9 AM on Wednesday, May 23 to be used that night.
    - ONE PROCESS: This is the only process approved for GA entry. No additional arrangements can be honored at this time.

    Hahaha. Let's hope that they stick with it. Though there will be a lot of whinging by the usual suspects. So the venue will probably cave, back down & we'll see the same familiar faces up after very minimal queueing.

    The only problem I see with the venue's approach is I can see 300 people all standing there at 9AM saying "I should be number 1!". A shit fight.

    I think they should do an early morning lottery, to sort out the above mess, as there'd be no incentive to be the first one there. 7am-9am lottery numbers. 9am draw. Anyone who arrives after this is numbered to join the end of the line, all returning at 4:30.


  2. perfect these are my feelings too, last year for JTT was the same, i understand they are older but the Stones are older too but.....
  3. Oh god, they are 57/58 years old... are you expecting him to climb lighting rigs or crowd surf every night. They look they are moving as much as they did during IE... up and down the walkway, in and out of the screen, etc.
  4. Plus from what I can see The Stones are hardly running around the stage... Charlie is hardly playing those drums, Larry still beats the skins.
  5. I always use the stones as an example of what u2 are doing right. The stones have been playing stale greatest hits sets for years. U2 are still focusing on new material and playing a good amount of it live too offering something new to the shows. Regardless of any criticism I have of the band we can’t take that away from them.

    Have you seen how much Jagger moves around that stage? Someone tracked his distance and it is estimated that he covers 12 miles on stage a night. As for Charlie Watts, he's a different type of drummer. Larry Mullen isn't banging them as hard as he once did, but he'll be almost like Charlie Watts one day.

    It doesn't matter if The Stones don't really change up their set, for their fans it is about having one or two rarities come in each tour. And they tour a lot less and are a lot older. It's not really a comparison, two different type of bands.

    I don’t think it’s fair to compare u2 now to the stones now but if you look at the stones when mick jagger was about the same age bono is now they weren’t as interesting and there shows were still pretty much greatest hits sets. There were already people complaining about u2 doing the JT tour which at least featured the rarities from that album can you imagine the reaction if u2 played tours without anything fresh at all. I know that I wouldn’t be desperate to see them every tour if they weren’t going to play at least a handful of rarities or new songs.
  8. Charlie is nearly 77(!!!), pretty amazing that he and all of the Stones are still touring.

    If you read the interview with Steve Lillywhite I posted (somewhere) a few days ago, he mentions that even from early on, Bono likes to tour the album, which is why there is always a steady diet of the new record. If this is this case, he'd get bored doing GH shows, and it would suck the joy out of touring for him... plus, after back surgery and other "ailments and biking accidents" he's definitely less likely to run the track with Jagger... I think they work the mix well. You'll never please everyone. And I think if the tickets werent at $300+ for more than 1/2 the arenas seating, they'd still be selling out like mad..m

    Yeah I think they put a lot of effort and energy into any new record and they probably feel like every time they release something that it’s there best work at that particular moment. They probably get into the new songs a whole lot more than anything else in the set and that’s the way I think it should be. I think it was even noticeable during TJT17 shows that the band were very into the lesser played JT songs and I think bono loved that they were doing RHMT in particular.
