Thanks for the review. Glad you posted this. I'd been feeling a bit down about the show due to set list, but now I'm all pumped to see it in Philly.

He only said (not sang) "and your heart it breaks and you can only take so much" or something like that. Anything passes for a snippet now.

Originally posted by bpt3:What a night, what a show. Going on two hours of sleep after getting home from Chicago last night, but still reliving it all this morning.
Highlights:
- that opening sequence, from the MRI sound effects through the Ocean: wow. Call it scripted, Broadway theater, “narrative”, whatever. It was all of that and performed brilliantly, too. The Blackout sounded fantastic when Adam’s bass and Larry’s drums kicked in following LIAWHL. And Lights of Home was a great singalong, on the chorus and even the dreaded “free yourself” ending. Red Flag Day also rocked and was fun to sing with. A lot of people around us in GA really enjoyed it.
- UTEOTW: this song never fails to sound incredible live. Last night was no different. The perfect closer to “Act I.”
- Elevation through SATS: being right by the E stage, this whole sequence was possibly the most fun I’ve ever had at a U2 show. Elevation + Vertigo = everyone jumping. Desire was great. ACROBAT. Still can’t get over that one. MacPhisto, Edge’s solo, all of it gave me goosebumps. Clear standout. Also, in the minority here, but I absolutely love the acoustic pairing of Best Thing and SATS. Bono was within earshot of me to hear me yell for Discotheque or Mofo, but alas, at least we get one song from Pop finally.
- Pride through COBL. I’ll say it: there’s no need for Streets here. Even American Soul kicked serious ass, and I pretty much ignore that song on SOE. Lines like “you are rock and roll” that make me cringe on album are a lot more fun shouting at the top of your lungs in a live arena. It will never be as good as “Bullet” but man did it sound good last night.
Could still use improvement:
- Iris and Cedarwood sounded great, but obligatory after 2015. Love their place in the story and their visuals are still fantastic. But why not play California? Or EBW full band? Another “Innocence” track that didn’t get as much attention last time? With that said, I didn’t really miss Wolves - minority opinion there, too. UTEOTW worked great as the “end of Innocence” song, both with its lyrics and those waves on the screen crashing and washing everything away...
- Rotate IWF. Such a great live tune, but overplayed for me. They should keep the RFD/ABOY rotation and then also rotate Gloria with IWF.
- the encore: they NEED a rocker to start it off. Beginning an encore with a speech and then “One”? Was Bono the only one who thought that was a good idea? I don’t even care if it’s Wild Horses or not, but please put something back in there. However, Love is Bigger was a fantastic time and I love the benediction style closer of 13. The lightbulb coming back out of the house again at the end? Perfect ending. Seriously.
Sorry for the long post. Fun to relive the show!![]()

I was also by the E stage, Adam's side. Shot some live video for our Instagram.
Show ripped. It was so much fun. Have a few beers and smoke some funny stuff and go see U2.
