I love Big Girls Are Best! It's so fun! It is also a fun body positivity song but also a little clever because in U2 By U2 I remember them saying that the models they hung out with were referred to as the Big Girls...so I've always taken it as any woman can be a model.
  2. Miami is an absolute belter.
  3. I have a soft spot for Miami too. I perfectly remember the day Pop came out and my parents bought it in CD, I spent hours listening to it in the car and at home... and Miami was one of the songs that caught my young mind first. I remember I looked up some of those words in a dictionary because I didn't know their meaning (squeaky clean?! chlorine?! photo booth?! all was unknown to a 7 year old Spaniard!). It's a funny little number for sure.

I've come to appreciate Miami more than I did when I first heard it. I kind of find it trashy and a bit tongue in cheek. Very 90's.
  5. Pop is my 2nd favourite album. I hear it all the time.
  6. Christ. I just gave this a run through for the first time in at least five years. Wow this album has legs. So easy to listen to but so much depth.
  7. Do you know how in the Olympics, in those events when athletes compete by turns (i.e diving, jumping...), the first guy makes a great jump or whatever and gets great scores and next to his name appears a gold medal, and you think "that was awesome!"...
...until the next guy comes in and makes it even better, so he gets downgraded to a silver medal, and so on until by the end of the event, poor guy ends up at the bottom?

That's the way I see Pop.

I love it... but I love (most of) the other albums more.

When are you going to do a U2 Olympics thread?
  9. after the impressive success of my "what if SOE was a football team", I'm not sure...
