1. Overrated
By the Band: Achtung Baby (Every tour this one gets too much love, even if it's repetitive)
By the General Fanbase: Joshua Tree ("they suck now, but back in the 80's they were great")
By the obsessed online community (a.k.a. us): Pop (in many people's top 3)
By me: Boy (in my top 3).

    Underrated
By the Band: Zooropa/Pop (they deserve a lot better)
By the General Fanbase: Songs of Innocence ("they suck now, but back then they were great")
By the obsessed online community (a.k.a. us): ATYCLB/HTDAAB (yeah, they're overproduced and a lot safer than others, but they're better than we give them credit for)
By me: Achtung Baby (it deserves a lot better than the "meh" I get when I think about it).

Yeah what’s going on. It’s a welcome turn of events though. Stands us in good stead for the next time we disagree lol.
  3. Most overrated is ATYCLB by leaps and bounds for me. Although, ironically, it's songs like In A Little While, Peace On Earth, and New York that I find underrated.
  4. War and UF
  5. Good critics will have arguments rather than opinions. I don't think it is fair to distrust a critic simply because he or she is a critic. Anyway, popular vote is indeed another way of looking at how things are rated. But I don't think there was ever an election held for U2 albums, or was there?

But I'll play along - don't get me wrong! I think NLOTH is definely underrated by the critics - and perhaps even by the band themselve (not entirely sure how it "rates" amongst the majority of fans though).

And overrated? Perhaps The Unforgettable Fire - I even admid that it is overrated by myself because it has so much personal memories attached...like "first BIG crush" and "first dates" and all those things a 14, 15, 16 year old girl might come accross...
There is simply no way I can rate TUF critically with sound arguments... It does have "Bad" though...(but I don't think a couple of good song will neceraily make a good album )

U can blame beautiful day for that

    Well argued and reasoned

Even with some self critique (or self-criticism if "critique" sounds to academic ) - I love it!
  8. I also think that Songs of Innocence is underrated.
  9. I’m probably going to get some slack here but I think that The Joshua Tree is the most overrated. I say this looking at the album as a whole. Most think the The Joshua Tree and only focus on Side 1 which I believe truly contains 5 of U2’s best songs. But when you look at Side 2 (which I loved hearing in concert last year) it does not deserve the critical acclaim when presented against other albums in their discography.

So subjective obviously. U2's best album for me is Joshua Tree. One average track on it (Trip Through Your Wires) and sometimes I enjoy Trip. It is the only album I can listen to at anytime, in any kind of mood all the way through it sounds good. So it is impossible to overate it for me.

Overrated to me is Zooropa. For me, it actually sounds slapped together quickly versus the normal time it takes U2 to "cook" their albums.

Underrated is Bomb. There are a lot of good songs there, most of them. I think the order isn't the greatest, but with some re arranging of the order it is a solid album to me.
  11. I wouldn't touch JT and AB here. Pure and simple, they are both classics and deserve all the praise that they get.
  12. Overrated: HTDAAB (It won a Grammy for album of the year? Wait a sec...who gives a rat's ass about the Grammy's????)

Underrated: Pop (Lots of good tunes on this album that the general public and the band themselves ignore).
