1. U2 will go until one of them is unable to go any longer. Their physical health is going to be the only thing that makes them retire. I do not believe they have any plan in place to retire right now.

There obviously is going to be an extended break when E & I ends however and this speculation that they are done will reach a fever pitch with some. It always does. Even when touring is done I think they will still release new music. We will at least get that box set of unreleased stuff that Edge mentioned years ago if and when they retire!

Or until one of them no longer "wants" to go on...
  3. I wonder what Larry thinks.
  4. 2026.
  5. i think that they will stop after record more two records
  6. My theory is they've had a plan for the endgame for quite awhile now. Bono's back and bike crash set it behind schedule, but I've got a feeling they know exactly when and how they're gonna do it...

On the contrary, I would argue I bet his injuries pushed them ahead of schedule somewhat. Or at least set their sights a little sooner.

But I do agree, a band/company of that size (and they are a company) has to know what the next 5 years may look like.

    Yeah, that makes sense.

(and yes, they are definitely a company. dare we say corporation?)

Not saying this as a judgement against them...but honestly, these guys are capitalists to the absolute core. They will absolutely let you know when they are having a final tour, and when you can buy $750 tickets to see it at a venue near you- no doubt in my mind.

I don’t agree with them being “capitalists to the core”. I think people on their management team are maximising their brand but I don’t believe the band actively discusses how they can make the most money as their key driver/motivation.

  10. The thing is that in both cases (no longer can or no longer want), imho, it leaves them no room for a farewell album/tour, it just ends the moment it ends.
  11. Definitely agree this is not their last tour, barring some health disaster. It would have been billed a farewell tour if it was. And watching Bono last night I think he'd go on forever if he could.

Their contract with LN ends in 2021 which is interesting timing - too soon to add a new album and tour but maybe too long for them to be unproductive for the next 3 years unless they've already made enough cash for LN already.

My guess is some new songs (album or one offs), one more tour, and thats that. Hate thinking about it actually.
