With most artists I’d assume there was some sort of terms about tours or shows but with u2 I really don’t know. They will have made LiveNation a load of money with the tours they’ve already played whilst contracted with them and I can’t see u2 committing to number of shows/tours when they know that could compromise work they were/are doing on new material. I think they like to suit themselves and work at there own pace and they’ve put themselves in a position to do so.

I don’t agree with them being “capitalists to the core”. I think people on their management team are maximising their brand but I don’t believe the band actively discusses how they can make the most money as their key driver/motivation.
