I think any material we can get a hold off that isn’t illegal on here (official stuff) we should just enjoy and if it encourages people to buy the bootleg then there’s not much we can do about it. Having said all that it’s not up to me but I would hope it doesn’t get removed.
We do appreciate any opinions and you have a point that one of the priorities of this site (and dare I say, any fansite) is to get the maximum number of recordings out for the maximum number of people possible. But on the other hand this person is constantly advertising bootlegs that are being sold for a profit, which is totally against what we do and stand for. As Joyce pointed out above, selling bootlegs is illegal and we don't want to endorse or facilitate it in any way.
  2. The fact that the shared song is accompanied by the image of the bootleg is already prompting your purchase, I see it that way. Share the song but do not associate it with the bootleg or delete the image.
Although I've long believed that pirates are around here, and I'm not calling anyone a pirate. It is inevitable. They stock up on recordings and images here.
    But sharing carries those risks.

Absolutely. They just tend to be quiet

And yet you are the one with a bootleg image as your avatar - or at least what looks like a bootleg image!

Not sure what you're driving at Ramone...
  5. Just to be clear I don’t disagree with any of the decisions that have been made in regards to how things are shared. I think this site runs a tight ship in terms of promoting the correct way of going about things ie not encouraging or allowing anything illegal. I do understand if the individual who shared on this occasion has previously tried promoting bootlegs then maybe this has caused people to be suspicious of if it’s going on again. Although I also don’t want to get involved in that it’s not my place, I’m just saying I’m grateful for the share even if it’s only one song and that it’s been allowed, unless I’m mistaken.
  6. Eh my avatar image is not a bootleg, it's just a digital image for my personal use. I do not think any pirate is interested, I've already had one stolen in the past.
I do not want to get anywhere with the topic, only that I did not like the action of sharing that song or with what objective.
If someone does not understand it, this is my point of view.
  7. UPDATE:

Thanks to dssmansv - exclusively to u2start - a recording of 2018-06-25 New York City, NY - Madison Square Garden (1st night)
is now up on the show page / audio tab

It's a decent sounding recording made with an iPhone X (internal mics). It's not stereo but very listenable. You can probably say
that for an iPhone recording this one is very good, but I find it hard to rate it higher than 3 stars.
It obviously lacks the depth and width of a true stereo recording, although the bass is well represented (not too shallow, or too loud),
but, again, it is very listenable despite the near-by clappers and the occasional screams.

    MP3 only.

NB: Somewhere way back and deep down in this "General Audio Recording Topic" I said that I would be content if my ratings were
to be off by no more than a 0.5 star. So I can imagine someone rating this iPhone X recording as a 3.5, but not as a 4 star recording.
Therefore 3 stars seems a safe rating to me. Also considering the possibility that in the (near) future some good to excellent
recordings made with external microphones will show up, some room for higher ratings should be reserved.
  8. Thank you!! Very good!
  9. Thank you very much!!!!
  10. Not sure if this 2018-05-08 San Jose CA - SAP Center (2nd night) is a true aud-iem matrix or that the audience "noise" comes from one of the feeds (I think Bono always likes to hear some audience in his ear monitor).

In any case, the audience doesn't come from the circulating "Schoeps CCM4" San Jose 2 recording. I also feel that Bono and the music sound quite dry and there seems to be no misalignment and/or phase issues, at least not that I can detect in a first quick listen. That doesn't have to mean anything, but it takes some skill (and time!) to pull that off.

My guess is that this a multi-track iem recording...but I'm sure @Hoserama will correct me if I'm wrong.

It does comes with all the tech counts, but if you are "in" to iem recordings, you can't go wrong with this one

    (I agree with Remy's 4.5 star rating )
  11. Spot checking it. It's a Bono + Edge matrix. Edge feed is pretty low in mix; Bono's feed in general sounds much better this tour by itself. I do hear misalignment but less a problem since Bono's feed is so up front.

I'd have to check, but I seem to recall the schoeps source didn't have much audience noise on it.

Gotta love that "one" count on every downbeat of The Best Thing.

I'd say I could easily do a better mix, but I've had 5 feeds from this show since May and never got around to mixing it. In any case, this is listenable. 3 stars in my book
