1. Yeah... a lot of nations riding on their teams and legacies of years past and no longer cutting the mustard on the world stage any more. Argentina, Germany, France, Brazil really not up to much at all in 2018.

I think the world champions might well come out of leftfield this go round, and to be honest, it's time.
  2. Belgium to win it please.
  3. Most of the big teams do still have the best players on paper though. They aren’t playing great as teams but that individual quality is still there. I’d still fancy Brazil, France, Argentina, Spain against all the other nations in the knockout rounds, obviously a few could knock each other out, France vs Argentina for starters but I’d even fancy Argentina against Belgium for example even though it’s the latter who have been playing much better so far. That’s more about Belgium lacking experience of winnin big games than having a lack of quality though, on paper Belgium are probably better than Argentina.
  4. Sweden's penalty kick was dubious at best. Where was the VAR then? It deserved a least a review. Now Moreno can't play the next game because of this, what a joke.
  5. Ouch, that hurt! Good luck for England and Belgium now!
  6. Time for Brasil to leave as well now
  7. Reading some of the comments around the web I do sometimes wonder if peoples love of football is a good way for them to mask a bit of casual xenophobia, hopefully we as U2 fans should know a bit better right lol? /rolleyes

Supporting the underdog is great though, especially if the big guns they are playing aren't cutting the mustard like Germany and one or two others so far.

But yeah a lot of thinly veiled xenophobia going on for sure. Always find that a bit sad. It's a great game and all, and I've been watching world cups since 1978, but it is just a game.
