  2. It’s not a good way but there’s not really much you can do. Maybe in the case of 2 tied teams they could arrange a play off but i think they’re trying to keep the rules consistent and if 3 or 4 teams tie then cards is probably a sensible idea before the drawing of lots which would be the next deciding factor.

  5. so what's gonna happen between England and Belgium? they're in the same situation, equal on everything except yellow cards.. luckily Colombia got first place in their group, otherwise second place in group G would be clearly preferential to first place and we could potentially get a very silly situation where both teams don't want to win and get as many yellows, maybe even reds as possible

    I still think the teams prefer to rank second, despite Colombia's win. The route to the semi final is much more open.

    If I were Belgium or England, I'd be concerned about the lack of competitive matches. Yes, they crushed Panama and Tunisia, but you may think they want better preparation for a truly competitive round of 16.
