  1. I saw a comment on YouTube saying that "Love Is Bigger than Anything in Its Way" is the new "With Or Without You."

    Agree or disagree?
    Adam said in an interview recently that "You're the best thing about me" is the new "With or Without you"


    Totally disagree. Adam also said COBL captures the same emotion as Streets. We all love Adam but he is way off the mark with these two comments.

    I've explained this countless times (sorry for anyone re-reading my opinion again ) but for me it's all about the context that the "cheesy lyrics" exist in. The song is for and about his son, a musician, set on the same journey Bono once was. You either like the aged rockstar looking back on his past thing or you don't, but in this case I really love it. To me it's sort of an "ultimate U2 song", if that makes sense. It's a real 'song of experience'. It's Bono looking at his son, who's about the same age Bono was when he started and saying EVERYTHING without really saying much at all. It's sublime IMO.

    Especially when you hear him do the Father and Son (Cat Stevens) snippet on that BBC production. Right in the feels, man.

  9. I don't really care for this song on the album, but the acoustic version that Bono & Edge did I found really beautiful.

    I think I've figured out one of the reasons I don't like it. And that's that musically, I find it boring and lazy.

    The album version has this awkward pulse that I don't really like. It sounds to me like Larry is just hitting one drum every beat and Edge is just hitting piano chords every beat.

    As for the melody played on keys or synth or something that recurs throughout (the "oh-oh-oh"'s), I really don't like whatever instrument is playing it. It's the same one from the end of The Showman. And the chant itself sounds like choppy breathing.

    The only part of the album version I think is solid is the bridge with the "Kiliney bay" lines. And overall I do like the lyrics, the acoustic version helped me recognize that.



    Sorry for wall of text, just trying to nail down my feelings on this song. I really want to like it because it seems U2 really like it. I still think Little Things should have its place on E+I though.
