  1. I’m really surprised most of the people on this site go to the gigs with all the moaning that goes on.

When you are actually there the gig is amazing.

We're passionate about U2 & will defend them to the ends of the earth! Internally though, we are very critical of them It's like when someone makes fun of your kid brother. Only you are allowed to do that.
  3. It's a great show for sure, it's U2 live and it's a well planned narrative - story telling show. Side note: they could do GOOYOW - American Soul - COBL and then open the encore with New Year's Day.
  4. Expecting variations on the setlists of the U2 tour are not exactly a critical requirement, it's just waiting for a bit of fun because repeating the setlists is boring. And boredom is disastrous.

I just don't see the point of going to more than one show, if everything will be the same.
  6. Story???Most don't wanna hear a story just play the best song's this is not The Wall it shouldn't be so restricted in terms of song choice most U2 songs have the same theme love, loss, regret so they could play almost anything and it would fit in ,I get that 90%of the audience only see it once but they should throw in a few curveballs and be more spontaneous I think not playing stuff from the JT is a big mistake Streets and WOWY are a major loss it's like going to a GnR gig and them not playing Sweet child of mine or Jungle.
  7. but not playing joshua tree songs is your curve ball.

As someone who went to a gig and frequently moans about this tour I have to say that while I’d rather see EI over most bands it still doesn’t compare to other U2 tours. I feel like SOE is actually one of U2s best albums so its a shame to see songs like Little things, Landlady, and the showman swept under the rug while the band plays a repeated section from IE. Add to that a lackluster encore and no JT songs and I feel like this tour has wasted a lot of potential.

But a theme, and a narrative is something U2 always tries to put into their set list structure... I agree I'm in the minority of 13 ending the show... most people would want a 40, a Walk On... but this fits within the frame of this storyline..... being a personal story about U2.
  10. I call this The Big Ego Tour.
  11. Perhaps on this tour they’ve just challenged too many people. Challenged the casuals who want to hear Streets and WOWY (probably challenged some die hards with that too) plus challenged the die hards with still playing the likes of elevation and vertigo whilst neglecting a lot of there material which hasn’t appeared often enough. Some of us take it better than others, I guess all reactions are understandable, those criticising the band and those defending them. I can see both sides but I generally try and take a positive outlook on things and know I’ll enjoy seeing them.
  12. I’m not sure many other tours had variations of set lists.
I like the story format. Good on them for doing it.
