    So I was searching U2 on limewire (after listening to electrical Storm), and I was shocked to see the HUGE amount of songs.

    I don't know which song it was, i think it was I threw a brick. Actually it was in 1983 when I listened to a dutch radioprogram KRO's RockTempel. Every Sunday evening they broadcasted a live recording from a band and this evening it was U2 playing on Torhout Werchter in Belgium. Still on of my favourite gigs.

  4. i think 'streets' was the first song i heard. I didn't really know much of the band, other than they were my mom's favorite! Tthe song that I first ever downloaded (illegally ) was Beautiful Day. It's been one of my favorite songs since then and the song that made me started to buy their albums. I've never looked back!

    Nearly the same for me. I heard Beautiful Day back in late 2000 first, then I stole my mom's cassette tapes of Jt and R&H and heard Streets and Exit and I was hooked.

    doesn't it make you feel old when you use to listen to cds on tapes? I remember using my tape player to make "mixes" of songs off of the radio.
  7. For me it was the iPod Vertigo commercial that I liked. Also I liked Original of the Species bit too. First two songs I liked by U2. However, it wouldn't be until last fall when I bought U218 Singles only thinking I would enjoy a few songs. The first song that convinced U2 was awesome was Still Haven't Found. That song stood out to me and spoke to me in many ways.

    Yes!!! It's amazing that you don't have to wait a full minute to fast forward or rewind to hear the song you want...damn, that was so eighties.

    (And sadly, I'm still fairly young, born in '84--still consider myself a part of late 80s/early 90s culture )

    How about the "hissssss-ka-CHUNK!!" mid-song when listening to The Clash "Combat Rock" on 8-track? Been there, done that.
