I was in the upper tier in Row A. I sat the whole time and thoroughly enjoyed the gig. I sang every word. Why does getting up on my feet mean I am enjoying it more?

Because I was in Row A if I did stand every poor bugger behind me would have to stand too. This is just consideration, not a terrible crowd. This idea that people pay for a seat then want to stand is starting to grate with me. Get GA. If you can't...tough.

Na mate I'm not talking about the people just sitting. If there enjoying it then great. I'm saying were I was hardly any1 was clapping singing or fuck all. As if they were bored it looked. Maybe they weren't but it looked it

Ah I understand, yes you can usually judge the crowd by the clapping/singing etc. Fair play.

Personally after seeing the show last night I did think it isn't for casual fans. There are maybe 6 songs casuals would know.

We love it of course hearing all these songs not played for 25 years or never before but I wonder what percentage of the crowd just fancy going to see U2? Probably a large chunk.

It has certainly been a brave tour from the band.

Your right man it felt last nite at my section like people only knew the hits but the other songs that we would love they seemed flat. Maybe they did enjoy it who knows. I was standing but had no 1 behind me. Normally before I never gave it a thought of people behind me but it was on this page and some 1 mentioned how maybe people sit as they can't stand etc. After reading that now I do take consideration for the 1s behind me. In Milan I asked people behind were they ok if I stood. But no selfishly before I wouldn't of thought of that. Glad I do now. I would hate being the guy whose view was blocked.
  8. My thoughts as the came to me:
    * excellent but not phenomenal U2 gig
    * I loved the narrative and the little stories. The narrative is a strength of the show but also a constricting weakness
    * Starting in the screen not the best of ideas
    * Favourites for me... Gloria, Stay and Wild Horses
    * Get Out and City were better than I expected
    * Good job with the flag, plus NYD was great
    * I’m surprised they like doing Best Thing like that. It’s dull!
    * It’s the first U2 gig since the 90’s that didn’t bring me to tears at some point, telling me it just lacks that emotional punch that only their very best songs can bring
    * 13 was the only one that made we well up slightly. I’m conflicted on this ending as it’s theatrically a great book-end, but a flat ending for many
    * Beautiful day - meh. The Elevation/Vertigo 1-2 I do kind of enjoy even though they are songs I would never play at home
    * The band are playing phenomenally well, and Bono is sounding great. The increased amount of pre recorded backing vocals is really noticeable at times though
    * My Mrs is far less of a fan than me (seen them 10 times though!) and she’s never shy with her thoughts! Too Achtung heavy for her, she missed the big JT tunes. Her fav was City surprisingly

Anyway, see you tonight when we will indeed be getting Vertigo on the back row of the upper tier!
