lol. yeh i think its pretty much agreed by everyone round here that saying something like that about Streets is blasphemy.

Si, si. I'm trying to do what Dan usually does but I can't find the bloody link lol...
  2. I think Streets is the only song which all of us like, isn't it? Same as for Kite? Walk On? BTBS? WOWY? TUF? Or maybe SBS?

Then it probably isn't THE ONLY song lol...

That's absolutely true, but it was more a question: Is streets the only one, or maybe those other ones too?

It was a vague (?) question indeed.
  5. I love kite but i know there are a few around here dont.:O

lol no worries, i was being picky. I don't think there's any one song that EVERYONE likes, indeed, I remember someone, can't remember WHO though, who claimed to dislike Streets. I think it is fair to say that the majority of people on here like it though lol.

Thing is, I've come across a few U2 fans who only like stuff up until TUF. They claim that Eno et al ruined U2, which I found flabbergasting but I guess I'm one of those who prefers their later work (and indeed, later interpretations of old stuff like Vertigo versions of IWF etc.)...
  8. I wouldn't agree that Eno ruined U2. i still by far prefer the old versions of the early songs.

it was great to hear them on the Vertigo tour cos theyre great songs. but they played them a lot better back in the good oul days!

Hmmm...thing is, I mean, I know I just referred to it, but everytime I hear IWF on Vertigo shows I feel the hairs on my neck tingle, it's like, hell, these are 4 rock'n'roll stars who came up with epic songs like Streets, COBL etc., and they're now playing the stuff that got them to that point, but with 25 years' experience under their belt. And it shows. I LOVE the Milan version of IWF. A full San Siro stadium screaming I WILL FOLLOW, that iconic riff, Bono getting the crowd going during the "Your eyes make a circle" etc.

Well, that's how I see it anyway. If they re-released it now, I'd like to think it would carve the music charts apart
  10. 1 problem i have with I Will Follow these days. The play it much slower and it ruins it for me.

I kinda like the more reserved aspect really, the ones I've listened too are usually more bassy on the drums and guitar has more depth - pace and energy is something I like, but sometimes I prefer a more deliberate approach as opposed to AAAARGH we're gonna break your ears with frenetic craziness...I hope that made sense lol...
  12. yeh that makes sense. i think there needs to be a balance. but if they are going to play it the slower way i dont think it works near the very start of a show. know what i mean?
